I lost the plot back when Chomsky broke with tradition and said it was a good thing the US was dropping bombs in support of the Kurds… I stopped following along then, but I don’t think even then I understood that conflict.
Is there a good write-up somewhere that outlines the basics of this?
I’ve found some document from the PKK about “Democratic Confederation” which my anarchist acquaintances really talk up, but I also thought they were ML’s?
Not a write up, but the podcast The Women’s War by Robert Evans is a pretty okay cursory look into the region. Think of Evans what you will, but he’s a great story teller. Probably not what you’re looking for, but there’s some interesting insights into the workings of what was the semiautonomous government there.
And of course you can read Democratic Confederalism by Abdullah Ocalan, the man behind the Kurdish PPK movement. Though I feel it’s important to have a firm understanding of anarchist theory, specifically syndicalism, before picking it up. You don’t have to burden yourself by reading Chomsky. I’d suggest Anarchism and Socialism by Georgi Plekanov. There are a plethora of academic YouTube channels about it to. And if you have experience reading and understanding ML theory you should be able to parse out the more liberal and fake anarchy channels.
Chomksy is a slog and that’s coming from a former Chomsky-head. I’ll take a look at Plekanov
and Robert Evans 🤨

that’s seriously the vibe I get from the whole thing- is it as simple as the state dept trying to further ethnic conflicts in syria?

Rojava got in trouble with the Official Left (by which I mean Westerners who never participated in a revolution) because they were obliged to form a temporary alliance with the United States in order to survive.

hello! Syrian here who is more in touch than you ever will be with what Syrians on the ground, both Kurds and non-Kurds, actually want/need. how does it feel to have the same view on Syrian partition as the CIA?
Nothing to respond to in this. You’re asking me my feelings??
if you could also list the revolutions you have participated in, we’d all appreciate it I think. thanks.
I’m not doxxing myself just because you claim the CIA would “appreciate it”.
