My wife read about getting the Hedge DIY from Lief , there was some confusion on the posts, so we tried, ended up getting about 4 but we have multiple players. We could not get the DIY time traveling back to Nature Week (April 15 - 22 ? ) but we did do good going to Harv’s Island.

We bought 30 bushes, as we read that works, on two separate days. However, on the second day after buying 30 bushes, we walked away and when we returned Lief told us we were his best customer and gave us the Hedge DIY. I think you only get it one time for each player.

I wanted to try something else: I created a new player on the switch but did not link it to any email / online account . The game started with the new player at the check in counter and proceeded as usual, taking us to our SH island, Nookadoon. We keep golden tools placed so cataloging them gave enough nook miles to pay for the move and purchased a house, but never paid for it. After the house was built, Harv appeared on our island and invited the new player. Note, I did not take any classes, build anything etc, all I did was place a tent, catalog all the golden tools , pay off the moving expense and order a house. I sold everything, and picked some gold roses and sold for bells.

At Harv’s Island the new player bought 30 bushes, saved and ended the game. I set the switch time to the next day. ( only method that worked, going back a day as well as setting the time to 4:58 AM failed) and restarted the game. It was day 2 for the new player and at Harv’s Island purchased 30 bushes, walked away, came back and got the Hedge DIY. This time, the new player returned to the island, and mailed the DIY to another player as I was not sure what would happen if I delete the new player. I dropped everything from the new player’s pocket, saved and exited the game.

After setting the switch to current network time, I started the game and selected the - choice (settings) and told Tom Nook to delete my player. The game tried to restart automatically, so I hit the home button and closed it. The items dropped before deleting the player were there after he was gone, next time I will drop the DIY. It took less than one hour total time, and most of that was waiting for the game to start up after each closing.

You can also delete the player from the switch first, then have the island rep use the settings menu to ask Tom Nook to delete the player from the game, maybe any current player could do the same but I did not try that.
