I’m already walking toward that pig slide that went viral, what other shenanigans should I experience in this town?
edit: apparently i’ve been spelling Boston wrong.
The Museum of Science. The USS Constitution.
nice, i can walk there. google maps kept trying to make me take the ferry this morning from the airport but i eventually stumbled onto the blue line and got across.
I’m stuck in Bostin for 12 hours, what should I do?
Learn how to spell it.
fair, i plan to move here so i guess i should figure that one out, lol
Learn how to not be a douche
I mean, realistically that’s mild compared to what some Bostonians would say if they saw them spell it that way.
This isn’t Boston or Reddit. No reason for people to be inflammatory
You’re right. Forgot sarcasm isn’t allowed here.

Oh my god that is so fucking awful.
My friend had a friend, he was cycling down the road and somebody whacked him in the head with a bar. He suffered brain damage and succumbed to alcoholism and eventually suicide. This world sucks so bad.

Now now, thorbot. No need for vulgarity.
Go yell obscenities at Paul Revere’s house for waking people up in the middle of the night.
These words are accepted!
Oh sweet! Just what I’ve always wanted, a Shard Shovel!
Life before death!
i found the pig slide, time to become awesome!

Pahk the Ka in the havahd yahd
Is this not how they sound? My god father is from Boston and he really does have that accent. It was quite exotic as a kid; for some reason I thought he was from Australia.
Go apartment hunting and be amazed that Boston has the 2nd highest avg 1br rent in the country
There’s a massive group of renters whose parent’s wallets drive the market there.
yeah, going to shop a bit farther out and commute.
Tours of Fenway Park are cool even if you don’t like baseball. Good food in the area, too. Go to tasty burger for lunch.
nice, i think baseball is nice in moderation. I’m wearing white socks, am i in danger?
Keep pointing it out to the tour guide, Im sure they’ll both love and appreciate the joke for the 10,000th time that day.
Seconded. When I go to a Red Sox game, I park a mile or so away and walk to it; partially for cheaper parking, but also because I think the area surrounding is cool. The sights, smells and sounds of Yawkey Way right around the park are also amazing; though I’m sure I have plenty of nostalga baked into that.
You can edit titles on Lemmy, friend
i thought i did, is it still showing wrong on your end?
It’s all good now. I was able to see the edit note in the post body, but the title was still with the misspell, so I thought you assumed editing works the same as on Reddit
Pig slide?
I presume he means the big slide in the new playground at government center. Adults keep going down and getting tossed, a video of a cop doing it went viral this week: https://www.wwlp.com/news/viral-video-shows-boston-cop-injuring-himself-on-childrens-slide-but-others-have-previously-issued-warnings/
Ohhhhh. Ok that does look fun.
i didn’t get near those speeds, must need to have your boots licked or something
edit: i’m wearing all cotton, i do have nylon slacks and a polyester shirt in my bag, if i can find a place to change i can give it another go. there’s a zillion kids on it at the moment so maybe i’ll try again omw back to the blue line later.
Get lunch and a pint at the cheers pub!
Makin’ your way in the world today…
For clarification i’m seriously asking for suggestions, your responses don’t have to be serious though.
Assuming you have to get from and to Logan to do your activities: leave any driving to Bostonians or it’ll be the worst 12 hours of your life.
been walking everywhere, the blue line being free at the moment is awesome though
Go to Fanueil Hall get some food and people watch.
Lots of things listed that, while fun, are pretty touristy. As a local I feel like I avoid those areas but here’s some food/drink spots you might check out:
Seaport: Drink
- I haven’t been here since COVID and some staff changes. But used to be a great bar. $$$$
Bar Taco
- these are apparently a chain, but pretty good food $$
Row34
- Great seafood. But expensive $$$$$
Back Bay Area: Faccia A Faccia
- great pasta. Close enough to the airport. Around a bunch of shopping if you want touristy things after $$$
- Bar Paloma in the basement has great drinks and staff. $$$ Hecate
- bar with great drinks. $$$$$
Cambridge (Harvard/MIT area): Take the red line toward Harvard/MIT. Hop off at Central and walk either direction. Pammys - really good food $$$$ Little Donkey - also great food $$$
Brookline: Go check out Coolidge Corner. Bunch of local shops and some food. Take the Green Line (C branch) towards Cleveland Circle and exit at Coolidge Corner
Fenway: I will second that Tasty Burger is amazing. There is also a couple cool museums around there. The MFA and the Isabella Stewart Gardner.
Visit the exterior Cheers location.
12 hours have gone by. What did you do, and would you do it again?
I had a great time, i eventually made it to the pig slide, it was neat but i have no idea how he got so fast. checked out the street markets near government center, that was fun. Some guy with a violin started following me around, i had my own soundtrack for a while, that was cool even though it sounded sad. Found the greenway, that place is pretty awesome. A lady slapped a cheap bracelet on me and bullied me to give her money. Checked out the freedom trail and got humbled. The park with the giant MLK arms had Shakespeare stuff going on, that was neat. Watched a street performer do a balancing act. There were cow statues…everywhere. I may need some elaboration on the cow statues. Tried to figure out if i should buy a 10 ride T pass or just pay as I go, panicked about getting stuck somewhere and ran away. i really wanted to get to the museum of science and the USS constitution but i started freaking out missing my flight so I got to the airport 3 hours early and everything went fine. Excited to come back here, thank you all for the suggestions.
The cow statues are a thing the city started putting around t stops and public areas in the early 2000s.
I just passed the odd looking MLK memorial, that thing is HUGE!
found the greenway, grass seems greener here than back home. looking forward to starting my new job here.
