The war provided the perfect way for people to migrate east and west to areas with higher standards of living, which many Ukrainians already aspired to do (hence wanting to join the EU). Most of them won’t go back unless they are forced to. Few civilians have been killed, but Ukraine has lost 20% of it’s population. I don’t think it will recover any time soon.
I really can’t see how Ukraine survives as a state at this point.
