Also, they seem to be going open source under the MPL-2.0 license once Polytoria 2.0 releases.
Just tried it, seems pretty ok, everyone’s complaining about the servers and rightfully so, but its fun and reminds me of roblox in the past a bit.
I have no clue why this is exploding, but if it ever gets big beyond just exposure it would be dominated by adults
It being open source makes it objectively a better alternative
However the issue of grooming wasn’t exactly rooted in Roblox itself anyway, which could mean Polytoria might just house the next ‘Condo games’ considering the primitive filtering, maybe less worse since moderation would be easier for a smaller community, as long as the game doesn’t blow up that is
Ultimately Roblox was just a symptom and if Polytoria is easier to bypass in and not get caught then they’ll move there

Players are clearly mad at Baszucki, so I think we can direct that energy into agitation efforts, which I think will be useful since lots of players are migrating from Roblox to Polytoria, similarly to how many of us originally came from Reddit and moved here when the original Genzedong subreddit was quarantined, and when more users came to Lemmy when Reddit removed third-party support.
