In Belarus, the use of personal assistant services is increasing by an average of 20% each year, reports a Minsk-Novosti correspondent, citing the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection .
This service involves specialists helping people with disabilities cope with everyday tasks. These include hygiene, cleaning, meal preparation, accompanying them to doctor appointments, as well as assistance with medication management, paying bills, budgeting, socializing, attending events, and finding a job.
More than 3,600 people have already received the personal assistant service. Disabled individuals living with able-bodied relatives are entitled to up to 20 hours of specialist assistance per month. Individuals with disabilities living alone are entitled to 40 hours per month for those with musculoskeletal or vision impairments (Class 4), and 60 hours per month for those with intellectual disabilities (Class 2-3).
You can apply for this service in the following way: receive an individual rehabilitation program for a person with disabilities (IRP), submit an application to the local social services center, and agree on the schedule and amount of assistance.
