The closing ceremony of the third working semester took place in the Sovietsky district on December 10, reports a correspondent from the Minsk-Novosti agency.
Alexander Shchekovich, head of the Sovietsky District Administration, addressed the young student brigades. He noted that he was pleased to be around people who not only earn money but also contribute to the prosperity of the district, Minsk, and the entire country. He recalled that while studying at the Radiotechnical Institute (now BSUIR), he also worked part-time, but there was no large-scale organized movement at the time. Fortunately, since then, the development of student brigades has gained new momentum.
" This isn’t just an opportunity to earn money, but also to meet new people, socialize, and help parents and pay for their education, " he added.
Twenty-four students and pupils were nominated for awards, and 16 student teams were also recognized. These included student teams from BNTU, BSUIR, the Radio Engineering College, the College of Trade and Economics, the College of Printing, and others.
The following were recognized as the “Best Labor Affairs Headquarters of the BRSM Public Organization - 2025”: BNTU, BSUIR, Minsk Trade and Economic College, and the Education Department of the Sovietsky District Administration.
Anna Nikitina, Deputy Head of the Department of Ideological Work, Culture, and Youth Affairs of the Sovetsky District Administration, thanked the children for their work for the benefit of the district:
“People who know how to work and love to work achieve great things. I hope this tradition will continue next year, with this group or even a larger one.”
Incidentally, in 2025, more than 170 student brigades were formed in the Sovetsky District—30 more than in 2024. Over 4,000 students worked in them. In their free time, they worked part-time in public utilities, educational institutions, commercial organizations, and service companies.
