I’ve wondered this for ages since noticing Joe Rogan fans put butter in their coffee starting ~2013. I’m pretty sure they think they’re supplementing Butyralic acid. It’s good for your gut health and butter is high in it, it’s also present in tons of vegetables and anything fermented but Rogan was probably getting a kick back promoting a type of butter.
Actual medical supplementation of butyrate tends to come in the form of an enema
