Their crackdown on democracy in Hong Kong, more aggressive pursuit of their frankly absurd claims in SCS, their ambassador in France calling post-Soviet countries as not being sovereign - Chinese posture certainly escalated and most of these independently of their rivalry with US.
That’s just nonsensical. The way China dealt with US sponsored color revolution attempt in HK was pretty tame compared to the way US acted against its people during George Floyd protests. Their ambassador in France also did not say any such thing. You should watch the interview and see what he actually said instead of parroting misinformation here. China’s become more assertive in its relations, and calling that escalation implies that China should not respond in kind to the constant provocations from US. The world where US gets to play world police is no longer here. The sooner US learns its place the better off the world will be.
