This has been floating around for a while, but I can never resist reading it from front to back and smiling every time it turns up. Without hope, we have nothing.

Theory does a lot to outline the development of history and how we ended up where we are today. It helps us to identify the weaknesses of the capitalist system and how we may dismantle it, but the socialist transition which follows serves as a sort of event horizon. We can imagine the ways in which we will collectivize society, we can imagine the ways we can serve justice for the vast injustices perpetrated throughout history, but it is hard to imagine what the world would look like when we unleash the whole of humanity’s potential to achieve self-actualization.

It is easy to get caught up in the day to day drudgery of life, but we must use our imaginations from time to time. Only then can we realize what is being stolen from us.
