Not really, they were of slightly below average reliability up until production ceased. In fact, they were so unreliable and unremarkable as handguns, that they were the driving reason behind the common idea at the time that semi automatics weren’t to be trusted, and revolvers were the better choice.

The ejection mechanism was over engineered and very prone to jamming because of it. In fact the gun has a much greater amount of small working parts compared to other handguns, meaning there’s more things to break and wear down. In addition, because of said folding ejection system, clearing the jam was very difficult.

Also prepare to have it jam, and jam, and jam, and jam, unless you sacrifice only the utmost perfect and exact ammo to it, since it is extremely finicky and won’t like ammo that isn’t a perfect match. This is probably because the gun was designed around the 30 luger, but was “re-engineered” to use 9mm so the Germans could standardize with the MP-18 and MP-40.

Eh, over all it’s a “decent” handgun. But nothing to right home about, and it’s easily outclassed.
