I’m all for calling out the NYT’s shitty China takes, but, none of the words OP put in quotes in the title here are actually present in the linked archive of the article.
My apologies. I reposted this arcticle from Sino who gave this title without having fully read the article. Just the comments, and “the catch” and thought it was okay. In the 100+ reddit comments the same criticism was deep down in the comments. I have not been able to find what the OP said, so I’ll adjust the title accordingly.
