if you’re talking about alternative ui/ux, you could try Piped/Invidious instances. Usually I use piped.kavin.rocks or yewtu.be to visit youtube on desktop browser. It basically youtube without ads and other bloats, also privacy-friendly. Or as other stated, you could try NewPipe or Libretube on smartphone. Keep in mind that all of these alternatives wont provide you google login functionality. These apps only store your search history locally on your device. It takes a bit of time to get used to not get fed by recommendation algorithm and not doing any mindless scrolling
For people wondering, the extension is also capable of changing clickbait title into a more descriptive one. You could also have a button toggle on each video to see the original title and thumbnail vs the changed one
The price to pay for convenience is too steep for most people to migrate. Also if you just an average user, most of the time you will not get instant gratification for being more privacy-aware. The more you try to be more aware the more you realize that to achieve a certain level of privacy is really a pain in the ass.

Thank you for your efforts. Since joining lemmy i finally realized what a hard work it is for pioneers like you to build a community. I hope it paid off soon 👍
Using lemmy most of the time since the blackout. Kinda hard not to feel guilty now when I scrolled aimlessly on reddit. Now I only go there to find specific things. But ngl really miss having moment of discovery when I stumbled upon something while I browse reddit, since the amount of content here is limited.
Why the lemmy.ml registration is closed? Is it to give a chance for other instances to grow? Or because of they cant handle the sudden new users surge?
For non FOSS i use Niagara, for FOSS i use Kvaesitso
