Short answer is yes. I’m not a fan of open-world games, but being able to drive around in my customizable war machine was pretty badass and I ended up 100%-ing it, which I normally don’t do.

For what it’s worth, I liked PS4/5 Spider-Man and didn’t like Breath of the Wild, if that gives you any idea of my mindset.

  • Is the economy an outside force or is it controlled in some way? If it’s uncontrollable, does that mean that there’s no way to insulate ourselves from its effects? Not as individuals, but as a society. And if it’s controlled, is there a way to control it in such a way as to benefit more people?

I suppose I’m coming from a mindset of “billionaires should not exist,” so take it with a grain of salt when I say I agree that it’s entirely possible to do everything “correctly” to improve your station in life and only do worse regardless of what the economy is doing. Further, I think that outcome is not only desirable for the shockingly few people who directly and indirectly benefit from it, but that it is the natural outcome of such a system to begin with.

  • I think so. I get the same sort of articles pushed on me in my news feed, like “How this 20 year old’s side hustle allowed her to buy a house with cash!” It feels sometimes like a narrative being pushed by media conglomerates to keep people hopeful or to sway public opinion, but I assume the actual answer is that those articles generate a reliable number of clicks and therefore revenue.

So yeah, it’s infuriating to consider that people are being manipulated like that, but in most cases it doesn’t really affect me, so my fury stays at a mild level.

It sounds like you think this shouldn’t be here, but do you think it’s not worth talking about or that we should all be more than mildly infuriated?
