Scrivener is fantastic for large projects with a lot of moving parts. It lets you keep all of your character sheets, locations, research, notes, etc in one place. It lets you easily move scenes around and will automatically format your manuscript.

Super powerful tool. However, it has a learning curve, and I have definitely used it as a means of procrastination. If you struggle with the habit of actually sitting down to write, maybe stick with Word for a while.

All of these games would be terrible on phones. They’re designed with controllers or keyboards in mind. I can’t imagine trying to do a Resident Evil boss fight with touch controls.

IIRC they openly stated in an interview that iMessage is one of people’s greatest incentives to stick to the Apple ecosystem, and they have no plans of shooting themselves in the foot by releasing it on android.

I also picked up Haunting Ground on my SD after seeing Spnere Hunter’s video raving about it. Fantastic horror game for sure.

Interesting that the Journal app won’t be ready at launch. Doesn’t seem like that much of a groundbreaking software.

The quality has definitely gotten worse with every iPhone generation. I had an official leather case on my 12 and the layer of leather began peeling off of the plastic within a few months.

Nowadays I just use a rubber spigen case and I’m very happy with it.

You will appreciate the story of 2 a lot more if you have played 1. They closely tie together.

Also, RDR1 is a spectacular game. 2 is better and worse in various ways. 1 is more video-gamey; 2 is more simulation.

That said, if you’re not all that interested in 1, 2 is just fine on its own!

I completely agree with this. I’ve found myself drifting away from wanting cutting-edge, high-end stuff and towards more reliable tech. I’ve started taking notes on real paper instead of ipad, and I’ve been wearing my cheap Casio watch instead of my Apple Watch. I feel like in some ways I’ve hit a wall where my inner humanity longs for real, tangible things rather than more digitization.

The mobile app is what drives me to try Bear again, but then Bear is too limiting so I end up back in Obsidian, and back and forth and back and forth.

You could always use Lemmy.world, or you can make an account directly on Lemmy.nsfw. The Memmy app lets you switch between accounts like you could on Apollo

Obsidian is such a nerd-friendly software, I’d be surprised if it didn’t have a presence in the fediverse!

But emulating console games built around a controller using M+KB is so uncomfortable.

8bitdo is the way to go for sure. Can’t beat that dpad. I personally use the 8BitDo Ultimate since it has a 2.4 connector built into the dock. I have the dock plugged into my Steam Deck dock, so it’s perfect for emulation on the big screen. Then if I turn on my Switch, I flip the toggle to Bluetooth on the controller and it becomes a Switch Pro controller.

My friend and I bought trucks around the same time. Mine is a simple tradesman Ram, no bells and whistles, primarily for moving and hauling stuff that can’t fit in my wife’s sedan.

My friend had a similar personality when he first got his Tundra (of course with all the extras he can afford). Then he goes and spends $10,000 on a lift, winch, and floodlights. Now he’s like a different person. He drives super aggressively, whipping round corners, weaving through traffic going 20mph over on the highway. He was driving me through some quiet neighborhood the other day and nearly mowed over a cyclist. I asked him what the hell he was doing and he shrugged and said “if she’s gonna ride a bike in the street, she’s gotta look out for trucks. Not my fault if she doesn’t see me”

TL;DR - truck drivers are fine, a truck is a tool like any other vehicle. Lifting your truck turns you into a redneck scumbag overnight though apparently.

Heads up since everyone is recommending Retroarch:

Retroarch has a SIGNIFICANT learning curve. There are so many settings hidden in menus and submenus. I recommend looking up some YouTube videos before diving in if you’re a fist-timer, since it can get overwhelming really quickly.

Probably the iPhone’s biggest downside. I recommend Halide as a camera replacement.
