I imagine the largest mobile phone operating system on the planet has a few more downloads than one of the several available package managers for the comparatively very small desktop Linux audience, yeah. This is the Linux community, not the Android or Google community, so I’m not sure what you’re yapping away about or why.

I was using Radarr/Sonarr to download files via qBittorrent and then hardlink them to an organized directory for Jellyfin, but I set up my container volume mappings incorrectly and it was only copying the files over, not hardlinking them. When I realized this, I fixed the volume mappings and ended up using fclones to deduplicate the existing files and it was amazing. It did exactly what I needed it to and it did it fast. Highly recommend fclones.
I’ve used it on Windows as well, but I’ve had much more trouble there since I like to write the output to a file first to double check it before catting the information back into fclones to actually deduplicate the files it found. I think running everything as admin works but I don’t remember.
If not then there’s always Navidrome which is built specifically for music. Haven’t used it myself but lots of people seem to love it.
I like Jellyfin for my media server, including music.
On Android I use Symfonium (works with Jellyfin as well as other backends). Nothing comes close to this app imo.
On desktop I use Feishin which serves me well (Jellyfin only afaik). It’s not perfect and it does have a bug where adding an album to queue will actually add all albums with that exact name to queue (even from different artists), but that issue is being tracked on GitHub and otherwise I run into few issues.

While we’re talking about asymmetric encryption, can someone explain to me why you can’t decrypt information with the same public key that encrypted it? I understand the analogies (locks on a briefcase, unmixing paint, etc), but I can’t “un-analogize” them to understand what’s actually going on. Encryption keys aren’t physical locks or paint. They’re numbers(?). So why can I encrypt something by multiplying by a known public encryption key, but I can’t decrypt it by dividing by that same known public key?
And since they’re travelling along predetermined routes without human intervention, we could even give them their own dedicated lane that’s more direct. That would free up traffic for normal people and streamline deliveries for these trucks.
And while we’re at it, if they’re already going on dedicated roads, why not make those roads more efficient? Rubber on asphalt damage is expensive to repair. Steel wheels on steel tracks are even more efficient and better to maintain.
And since steel tracks can handle so much more wear, we could actually make the trucks super duper overpowered and have them tow like 100 boxes at a time instead of just one or two.
And since steel tracks are conductive, we could actually electrify those rails to power the super duper overpowered track truck so it doesn’t have to stop to refill for gas. Now we’re combatting climate change at the same time.
At scale, humans are a lot like cargo actually. We could have dedicated track trucks to move large amounts of people from core parts of cities to other core parts of the same or other cities. Then we could reduce car and plane usage too.
Track trucks is a bit of a dumb name though, so maybe we should call it something more relevant. There’s an Old French word “trahiner” that means “to pull/draw” so maybe something like that? Trainer? Or maybe just train? I think train sounds cool.

It is not possible to move 1.8 million people out of a region like Gaza without mass death. This is not some secret information that Israel doesn’t know. The state of Israel has demonstrated at every possible opportunity that at best it does not care and at worst that’s the goal.
I understand the frustration in watching him waltz around unfazed after what he did, but we’ve never had to apply this law before. We need to get this right the first time. We can’t afford to fuck up applying this law, and not fucking it up takes time.

Discord file url parameters are to prevent using discord as a free cdn. I believe discord plans on actually enforcing expiration later this year or early next year, at which point those extra url parameters will actually be necessary (and the links will no longer work indefinitely)

In a new chart, which can be viewed below, the WGA estimated how that $343 million breaks down on a studio-by-studio basis. It estimates that the proposed contract would cost Disney an additional $75 million, or less than 0.1% of its $82 billion annual revenue. It also estimates that Netflix would pay up an additional $68 million, or 0.2% of its $31.6 billion annual revenue.
About two weeks ago I thought about this in regards to google podcasts.
“Well this one will probably stick around long enough that I’ll have moved on by the time google shuts it down. They don’t even host the episodes anyway. They source the metadata and audio files from elsewhere. All they really host is my listening history, queue, and subscriptions. Certainly this is less likely to get the axe anytime soon.”

It really does suck though. I genuinely like the google podcasts app/website. Best one I’ve found so far that works how I like my apps/services to work.

Few reasons. First, the United States is huge. Texas alone is twice the size of Germany. Second, the U.S. has three main power grids. The left half, the right half, and Texas. It’s a little more complex than that, but the important part is that Texas is on its own. Third, Texas hates people. They let companies deregulate to hell and back, even at the expense of its residents.
The combination of being on its own power grid, deregulating that power grid and the companies that maintain it, and not taking proper precautions to protect its residents all leads to a less-than-reliable power grid when it gets hit with any non-standard weather. Texas especially needs to prepare for climate change, but things could definitely be going better…
Kopia actually has a GUI option too! I use it all the time! I pair it with a docker webdav server running on my server pc across the room.
The thing is in this case, it’s only human suffering. People don’t actually work nonstop all week. Giving them fewer hours over four days means they’re more productive for those days because they’re not dragging out their work to fill the arbitrary 40 hours they have to work for. So companies pay workers the same, but can save money in amenities and office space or whatever by using it less AND have more productive workers. Longer work weeks don’t actually make companies more money (oversimplifying and speaking broadly).
