I also had problems with NVIDIA and I made the tough decision to buy a new Graphics card. After switching to an AMD GPU, the Audio issues were also gone… Don’t ask me why, I’m just happy, that I have a working setup now.

Like you, I also planned to use containers for most everything, but… I eventually decided not to.
What was your reasoning for not using containers?
Sadly, using WebCord or WebCord doesn’t fix the issue for me :( My sound is still deadlocked somehow.

I thought about setting the CM4 to sleep when no input was done for ~10min and just hoped, that that would reduce the power consumption enough to last at least 1 week or up to 1 month when used for 1h a day. But it was just a thought. I have not settled to an approach yet.
The is the messenger matrix from the German blog Kukitz-Blog (it is a blog with a strong focus on privacy and is in my opinion well informed). But no worries, the matrix is also available in English.
Maybe you can take some inspiration from the matrix.
I currently using an old pc as a server and I’m not planning to use a framework mainboard for a nas. I just wondered if others already tried such a thing
Is there a reason you’re suspecting it wouldn’t work?
No, not really. I was just wondering if that works too. I have an old PC with stand in my room and I must urgently upgrade the memory. For this I wanted to use hard drives, because they are cheaper.
I’ve been playing with the idea of getting something like a NAS for a while. And because I always find DIY cool I was wondering if others have already tried it with a framework.
I didn’t consider that you can use the USB ports to connect hard drives. In my naivety I only thought about SATA ports.
I already feared that, but thanks for the answer!
however, you’re going to be standing there for quite a long time transferring even 10Mbits of data. That’s about 25 seconds of holding the devices close together. (You can scale that for Gbits…)
Yea, 25 seconds is way to long.
You’d be better off using NFC to bootstrap a more robust, higher-speed connection. Use the NFC as the identification phase of bootstrapping a secure, say, Bluetooth connection or the like.
I guess I will look into stuff like that.
I really like chinni for desktop. It has a clean feal and is not as bloated as element. It still lacks some features, like Voice and Video Chat (and I would reeeeally apreceate multi accounts) but what it does, it does really well.
For my Smartphone, I am still lokking for a good App. I tried Element, Fluffy and I am curently testing Schili.
See https://lemmy.world/comment/9404186 for a Solution. Spoiler: switching from NVIDIA to an AMD GPU fixed the issue.
