Everyone knows what the trolley problem is about. I think it’s you who’s missing the point. Instead of blindly accepting the unacceptable solutions that are offered, come up with your own, better solution.
There is demand for first class seating from nearly 100% of fliers. They’re just not willing to pay what AA is charging. This isn’t a supply and demand decision. Econ 101 says that means AA should reduce the price, but capitalism in practice says the constant desire for more profit and the monopoly that most industries have been allowed to grow and maintain means never lower the price and find a new way to fuck the plebs who don’t even own a single yacht.
But he is a bad person.
People like that don’t deserve patience and understanding.
These black and white statements won’t do you or anyone else any good. We understand that an inconsiderate or rude act doesn’t define a person when we can believe that about ourselves and love ourselves despite our many mistakes and cringe-worthy incidents.
When we love ourselves we begin to offer others the same grace and understanding we allow ourselves. We see the myriad reasons we don’t think or act how we’d like to and realize that everyone else’s life is just as difficult and confusing, and often for reasons we’ll never see or understand.
This certainly is data, which doesn’t exist purely in tabular tables. If you’re interested in doing so you could count to see how many records exists in the set, and you can easily view the “prosecution_result” field for each record. The data is also arranged into groups for easier consumption of trends that the creator is showcasing.
If you were to look at the raw data, probably stored in tabular records, you wouldn’t gain much insight into the overarching trends without spending more time studying and taking notes than the few seconds it took to absorb the trends in the author’s visualization.
I can’t agree when we’re talking about the state of the world. Yes, the world will go on and see better days, but it might take millennia and the extinction of humanity to get there, which isn’t something that any of us will endure.
I get that the heavier bowling ball affects the acceleration of the earth more than the lighter feather, but I don’t see how that means it’s falling faster as the meme is stating. The bowling ball would meet the earth first when dropped separately and from the same height because the earth is (imperceivably) accelerating toward it faster than it does the falling feather, but both the bowling ball and feather are falling at the same rate due to Earth’s gravitational force.
Or am I missing something?
