Excellent - thanks for the heads up on those others
That was phenomenal.
I made this comment on another thread, but clearly it’s how the Romans spelled it: Tvvix. /s
Ah, yes, the traditional Latin spelling: Tvvix.
I’d add Bee’s Cakes on Sandy (which has a variety, including good cinnamon rolls when they’re in rotation), and a vote that I really love the Franzbrot from Fressen (basically everything from them, honestly).
Yeah, infants are cute and I loved my kid when he was that age, but I unequivocally prefer the toddler stage. He’s a person now. I think the 6- to 8-month range was when he started to get more interesting. All of our friends who are parents seem to have similar feelings. That said, there are a ton of special “firsts” that you can look forward to, and they’re pretty enjoyable.
Yeah, I never had good luck with jerboa… it worked sometimes, but I was mostly using liftoff (which is pretty good, in my opinion).
This was my feeling on it, too. Way more depth than I first expected. It felt like a spiritual successor to TNG.
…Bortus?
LOL. I didn’t immediately get this one. Well done.
Charcuterie boards are peak lazy cuisine.
“You mean I can just eat meat and cheese and nuts and fruit on the cutting board I used to cut them up… and it’s somehow fancy?”
Agreed on the OP 7 Pro being pretty great, up until the last major android update that kind of killed it. I ended up having to switch it over to the Pixel Experience ROM for stability reasons.
I did a similar 7 pro to 7 pro (OnePlus to Pixel) move. It was striking how much better the camera is, and at this point I’d be hard-pressed to go back to OnePlus. I had a OnePlus 3 before the 7 Pro and it also had a crummy camera. The Pixel software experience also feels a little more polished (but only just) and the voice recognition absolutely wipes the floor with the OnePlus.
Agreed on that count - I like that UI consistency is an option for those who prefer it.
Here’s a good explainer:
What is tidal locking? https://phys.org/news/2015-11-tidal.html
Basically, the moon acted like a spinning (unbalanced) wheel, and eventually stopped with the “heavy” side pointing “down” towards Earth. I.e. think of the moon as orbiting Earth with the heavy side staying pointed at Earth.
I believe it is for posts specific to communities on your instance (server), which in your case is lemmy.world.
I’ve basically made the switch 100%, and I’m finding myself a lot more active on here so far. Everything I’ve posted in any given community has resulted in a lot more friendly discussion here than it tended to on Reddit… honestly, so far this feels a lot better lol.
This seems to me like a much smarter solution, and it’s more in line with how (e.g.) YouTube kids and the Play Store work (content with ratings, but a separate ecosystem with non-earnarked content that parents could always approve). Crafty kids will always find a way around stuff, especially if they’re unsupervised.
This strategy seems like it would be much less obtrusive, with the bonus of probably being a lot safer for kids in practice. Nobody is ever going to successfully blacklist all the adult content the internet can generate… that’s a Sisyphean task.
The fediverse is your oyster!
This got a good laugh out of my wife this morning when my son asked to hear “Let it Snow” again.
