Mine is cooler than the iPhone 13 mini that it replaced, if my one data point makes any difference.
I’m really grateful that they support Intel Macs even though Apple doesn’t sell them anymore. Thanks Larian!
I also saw that Patch 3 comes out the next day.
So does that mean we get the patch early? Or do we get the Mac version and then a new patch the next day? Or worse, is the Mac a patch behind the PC version?
I really want to be able to play with my friends.
The implication that having a cycle count on your phone is going to drive upgrades is bizarre.
“Hey, what made you decide to get the new iPhone?”
“It has battery cycle counts!”
I can see it already.
I’m so ready for this. I’m also secretly hoping we get an iPad version like they did with Divinity Original Sin 2
I think a trap a lot of players fall into in D&D is that in-combat healing is bad. Out of combat, sure, but during combat the better play 99% of the time is to do damage to the enemies, not heal your party.
Start thinking about how you can do damage with Clerics and you’ll start to see the possibilities.
Thanks! You should write a guide!
I’ve heard land druids are good but I’ve had a hard time making one work in my party. It seems like sleet storm is always saved against. Any tips?
I don’t think we’ll see it for a few years, but I feel like Apple has laid out their plans for this when they announced the VisionPro. It runs iPhone and iPad apps in Stage Manager. So does the iPad Pro. And I can definitely see that it’s a possibility for the phones in the future.
Now the chips in the phones aren’t M-series, so it might be a while until we’ve got the horsepower, and I’m sure there’s some developer-changes necessary as well, but it doesn’t seem out of the question.
Alert is also a very powerful feat (more powerful than 5e because in 5e initiative rolls are a d20). Going first means that you can cast your bard spells before the enemy has a chance to do anything, potentially robbing multiple enemies of their turns.
Be a swords bard, take sharpshooter at level 4, find two hand crossbows, and just pew-pew everything with 3 shots per turn (flourish allows to you to target the same target with your multi-attack, and you get an offhand attack for 3 attacks) that have +10 damage on each of them. And you get to enjoy all those nice bard spells and skills on top!
If you use an iPad Pro, the overcast layout is just stilly looking. I switched back to the Podcasts app. I heard he’s working on updating the UI, and I’ll try it again when it’s redone.
My table loved this one. I had a player pick up potions randomly in the workshop and chug them. I told him that they were potions of True Polymorph and had him roll percentile dice. We looked up the page # for his die roll in the monster manual and said he transformed into whatever monster was on that page. It was tons of fun - he rolled a demi-lich!
Great post! This is from the tabletop community and deals with party composition along the same lines.
MacOS’s kernel is also UNIX-based and open source
I use my iPad for running and playing my games, and while dnd beyond is thorough, it’s information layout is just terrible. You can really tell that it was made for phones not tablets. And it’s kinda lame that it doesn’t pre-load its content, so you’re waiting for a slow network while trying to access information that you told it already that you want (when you made your character).
I found Fight Club 5 on the app store, and it’s a lot better in both layout and speed, but it also has a pretty high learning curve for someone that’s new (you need to use XSLT to make your compendium due to copyright issues). It also won’t automatically use the system dark/light mode theme - why do apps not support this? What year is it?
I’m still looking for my perfect app. I wish wizards would make one that’s more native for tablets.
I’m happy to see a list there Curse of Strahd isn’t #1. Maybe it was my DM (he tried his best), but I thought it was just okay and nothing special.
I feel like VTTs surged during the pandemic (not that it’s over) and now a lot of people went back to playing in person
I definitely think in tier 1, casters will be better martials than martials with these changes. If they want to make all the spells cool and useful, fine, but I hope they see the obvious power creep they’re handing out to already-powerful classes.
