R tidyverse (specifically ggplot) is used by pretty much everyone in the scientific field. Probably the only implementation of a plotting system that has the least friction.

I’m a tidyverse zealot and I just cannot stand fixing people’s 300 line base R spaghetti that can easily be refactored into 10 lines of dplyr. Especially annoying when researchers can’t move away from doing everything in matrix format (when it’s unnecessary).
Autohotkey is the most arcane fucking language I’ve used, idk why someone hasn’t rewritten it in something clearer.
Any chance you could share your docker-compose.yml for your stack?
I work with genetic data and this sort of stuff is trivially easy to do in an automated way. They could easily run your variants against a known database such as clinvar and broadly deny insurance for a particular pathology if they wanted to.
If they had access to your non-pathogenic variants it also becomes trivially easy to ID you, as non pathogenic variants tend to be random so more likely to ID a person/sample.
I’ve only been programming seriously (for work) in the last two years and honestly don’t get the copy pasting memes. I get copy pasting a 1-3 line terminal snippet sometimes, but idk how people are getting away without actually writing their own code.
Did woodworking before I started software engineering, and I feel like the general attitude to craftsmanship applies well to coding.
You don’t have to wait, they’re doing it now.
I really like Google sheets, QUERY() is so useful.
I got that dawg in me
Same. Was slightly disappointed, but I guess it just shows how well the show was produced. It departed significantly from the book (iirc) but made all the right choices in the process.
The ending to Station 11 (the miniseries) was so weepingly, heartwrenchingly beautiful. I could not stop thinking about it for weeks.
An really interesting show, would highly recommend. Actually thought it was much better than the book.
Love my kobo libra h20, would highly recommend. Easy to sideload epubs with calibre.
This made me realise it would probably be trivially easy to make QR code stickers that first lead to a phishing page (please enter your payment details) followed by a link to a restaurants actual online ordering page.
Those restaurant ordering apps look so dodgy anyway I bet a quarter of people wouldn’t suspect a thing.
What am I even looking at?
I could imagine it working well if you give different characters models trained on different data based on what they know as characters, but keep their responses railed to sections of dialogue that are more ambiguous or not key to the plot. Could really add to the depth of the world without compromising to much on cutting human written dialogue. But then again knowing game developers I doubt they’d use a nuanced approach.
People write regex in notepad and complain it doesn’t work on the first try…
Another fucking stupid outlook thing is that you can only schedule send emails from the Web client, not the desktop app. If you try to do it on the desktop app it sits locally in your outbox and only sends if the PC holding the email is on. And if it’s off when the scheduled time passes, the email just sits in the outbox. So incredibly stupid.
There are people in my workplace (which uses Gmail) who willingly use Outlook to access it then complain about Outlook problems. Outlook is the biggest piece of trash email client software I’ve ever used.
At one place I worked at, it was OBLITERATING any mails from one particular person because of a completely unrelated filter I had. Email notifications from them would appear for a few seconds, then the email would completely disappear (not even in deleted, or in any filter folders). Everyone else cced could see the emails except me, and IT couldn’t figure it out. I had to disable ALL my filters which trashed my inbox with stupid work circulars. Fuck Outlook.
How is this basic?
