Yeah, I just watched it. As a fan of the books when I was a kid it was definitely creepy at times, but I kinda feel the same. Maybe it would have been a lot better if it was an anthology of dedicated stories being told around a campfire, or something like that.

Doubtful. People have been dying for a long time. Non-dying people have always wanted to know what dying is like, so I’m sure there have been countless attempts at gathering measurable data of those in their last moments of life.
Yeah I think the last few years they have definitely ramped up and become even more attractive. Especially after they got rid of their private repository limitations which their competitors, like GitLab, had freely available.
