  • So what am I remembering then? Was that fallout76?

They had a new game coming up and said they’ll be using their engine and there was a huge backlash, and they then responded that they’ll be working on a new one.

I could’ve sworn my worst enemy’s right arm that that’s how it happened… Internet’s slow right now on the train but I’m keen to do some sleuthing on this now

  • They need a Cyberpunk 2077/ No man’s sky level overhaul and that simply won’t happen.

In Cyberpunk’s case, CDPR within months of the terrible launch, had a clear vision of what they want to fix and how they want their game to feel in 2.0. They gave us a roadmap and plenty of updates and they delivered on what they promised with an incredible 2.0 release and DLC, that honestly propelled the game into my top 10 of all time.

No man’s sky basically released a new game in the decrepit shell of their initial release. Multiple decent DLC’s later and it’s one of the best success stories in gaming history.

With their Elden Ring title on the horizon, there’s no way Bethesda is going to devote so many resources to fix a broken game. They also promised that Starfield will run in a new engine following backlash when they said it’ll run on the same one. There’s very little confidence now in Bethesda that their next game won’t be a buggy mess. Fallout 4 sucked until mods fixed the game. Starfield sucks to this day and their next title probably already has significant development done to it that they likely can’t scrap lol.

If they honestly thought this patch would bring people back, then they’re as deluded as the diablo 4 devs are

  • I tried to download a music video on limewire once. I was pretty computer illiterate back then and around 13 years old at the time when a friend at school showed me how to download things.

That music video turned out to be a woman being murdered at point blank range. It was ~5 seconds of my life but that video has never left my mind. It was far too early for video editing and far too ‘amateur’ to be a movie production. The way she begged for the guy to stop before he pulled the trigger, it was definitely real.

  • Skyrim was an awesome game at launch, even without mods. The epic storyline, they way you’re face to face with a dragon within minutes of starting, and the diverse range of races and classes you could be made it your own. There’s a reason why it lasted as long as it did.

    • 1000 planets to explore. So why couldn’t they have let you upload your base to a server online, and then have other people’s bases randomly appear in your game as you play? Bearing in mind, this would not be an online game, you would have the opportunity to download them.

    • Ship building is fun, but it’s too limiting. It feels like a system that’s still in its infant stages and could’ve been refined. Give me the ability to resize modules, have the ability to merge parts, so my ship looks more like the ones in Mass Effect or Star Citizen, and not like a mass of parts bolted onto each other.

    • Bethesda NPCs just don’t work in 2023. There’s so little life in them, and the voice acting sounds like they are speaking in a recording booth. There’s no life to their voices or characters. It’s so jarring, going to Starfield after playing Baldurs Gate 3, or Cyberpunk 2077.

    • Loading screens.

    • Boring. At least give me an all terrain vehicle to explore 1000 planets, or don’t make carrying capacity and oxygen so difficult to manage. How about they give us free DLC after release that continues to add curated content to other planets. Give me a damn reason to play the game, Bethesda! What the hell is this BS?

  • Very true. I totally agree. However…!

I’m going to preface this comment by saying I don’t condone what Hamas did, but I also understand why they did it. I’m also an outsider as many of us are. I don’t live in the area and I don’t have family/friends involved in the conflict so my views are unbiased but also irrelevant lol.

Imagine if someone walked into your home, raped and killed your spouse and kidnapped your kids. Would you want to kill them in revenge? I sure as hell won’t hesitate! There’s a rule in the US that allows you to kill in this very scenario. It’s called the Castle doctrine, or the more commonly known “stand your ground” rule.

A Palestinian family who have seen their homes demolished (despite living there for decades or centuries), have witnessed their children be murdered for sport, and have their citizens constantly harassed by Israeli settlers terrorists armed to the nines and deliberately provoking and antagonising anyone for a rise so they can use lethal force as self defense, will naturally turn to their own friendly neighborhood terrorist group to support themselves, likely after a lot of targeted propaganda by such groups.

Was it right for Hamas to kill innocents? Of course not. Are Palestinians happy they got some revenge for what they’ve lost for many years? of course! Are they sorry? Hell no. Hamas did something. It will mean war, and the wrath of many countries internationally, but I guess hopelessness and desperation doesn’t go hand-in-hand with logical, well-reasoned responses.

  • So with zero first hand experience then? You’re refusing to upgrade based on memes and conjecture alone.

Sure, you’re well within your right to do so, but it’s not a great system to live life by. People are far more vocal about bad experiences than good ones. Windows 11 has been awesome for me, and as a developer and gamer, I’m on my PC and Mac far longer than the average user. I’ve not had any issues with windows 11 since it came out; the issues with the start menu and whatnot. It feels like it’s cool nowadays to moan about Microsoft products when the reality just doesn’t reflect those complaints.

Try it out for yourself. It’s actually a really good OS: I prefer it over MacOS Sonoma anyday. My dad, who is ‘afraid’ to touch computers in fear of breaking them, told me just last night how much easier Win11 is to use than Win10.

If after all that you still hate it, well, at least then you’ve made an informed decision!
