I wanted to use it back in the day, but most instances didn’t load. Even less often then regular Piped for me. I’d imagine that this wouldn’t be particularly improved now that YouTube’s doing their whole “Sign in to confirm you’re not a bot” spiel

Does this also apply when not using the official app? I recently bought a Phillips bulb (not Hue) and set up Home Assistant for it, along with the Matter bridge. This turned out to also connect it to the Wi-Fi, but I never installed a manufacturer app.
Would blocking internet access via parental controls on the router be enough to mitigate such threats, or is its mere presence in an internet-connected network dangerous?
This is what I (a non coder who only knows git “download the Yuzu repo before they nuke it” and git “give me all the updates”) want to do when I get to write a paper. How much git did you have to learn to do this?
Idk why, but this is the hardest I’ve laughed at an internet post in a long time
Deliberately broken by default?
Years ago I used to use an app called “AdSkip” or something along those lines that used the accessibility API to automatically mute and skip all YouTube ads. I’d imagine the screen black-out would be trivial to add on top
On my Android 13 device browsers save in sd card/Android/data/com.my.browser. This folder can only be accessed on the default, hidden file manager or on a PC. Not even read-only access, but straight up nothing. At this point I just don’t bother directly downloading to my sd card anymore, I just download to internal storage and move it all to sd card/Downloads every so often
I stand corrected then. TIL.
… -1 doesn’t have a square root. Agree with the sentiment though
Wait WHAT!? Damn I loved every second of this, I’m sad now
Do they mean like how season 1 had 12 episodes, but then got another 12?
Went through some old texts. Someone wanted to know the subject matter of an upcoming test.
5 years ago, still unread.
A small part of me wants to try to look it up and reply back
I always do this and your comment specifically made me realize how that could look to other people.
At least sometimes they get to see a flash of a Word document when I’m half a second too late
Isn’t the new model based partly on game and/or studio revenue? Sounds really scummy if you put it that way: Unity announces new pricing structure -> costs for devs rise -> they increase game prices -> now they reach the revenue threshold quicker and more often -> costs for devs rise…
Stable Diffusion when you ask it to generate a house:
Used to think otherwise, that I was immune to the phenomenon that you’re describing. But then the other day I realised my shoes were hurting my feet. I was seriously considering buying shoe inserts (if that’s their English name), even had the brand in mind, until I realised what was happening.
I’ve seen ads for this brand on tv like a decade ago. Before that, I honestly had no clue such things existed, I’d seen them in a store like, twice. Never seen anything related to them ever since. Literally forgot about them until I felt the slightest urge to buy them. I was really taken aback when I realised what had happened in my “advertising-immune” mind
Somehow, KDE Connect treats a media stream happening on a connected device the same as if it’s playing on your local device. If you’re playing a video on your laptop in Firefox it will add one of those “music player” things in your phone’s notification shade, allowing you to control the video from your phone.
Android automagically pauses everything it deems to be “media playback” until the end of your call, thus also pausing that Firefox video on your laptop.
Probably not at first glance for every user. I still have Sync for Reddit installed and both Sync for Reddit and Sync for Lemmy show up as “Sync” in my app drawer, the only difference being that the latter doesn’t have an icon pack theme applied (though I think the difference is SR = white and SL = dark).
There’s probably an extremely tiny minority that doesn’t know that SR died, had purchased Pro or Ultra, downloaded SL without knowing that SL is a “reboot” for Sync, hadn’t noticed that Lemmy isn’t Reddit, and then tried to restore their purchase expecting it to work. But I don’t think it would be inherently obvious how it isn’t the same app once it is installed on your phone, since it appears to work identical to the original Sync
Make lemonade, obviously
I’ll be sure to check out those instances then!
