  • I think I read somewhere that in order for the Romans to abnegate their role in killing Jesus, as they transitioned to Christianity, they scapegoated the Jews. Although, it was the people who demanded to crucify Jesus. But of course, anti-semites focused on the ethnicity, instead just ascribing the mob justice to just-- on people.

My guess is that because Jews reject the divinity of Jesus, the Christians found it fair to oppress the Jews. It is not different though to the crusading missions of later Christians in the medieval Europe. The non-Christians refuse to recognise Jesus Christ as both the son of God and god himself, the either they convert, or else be killed or ostracised.

  • I actually try to talk to folks to the level of their knowledge. I had a debate with some coworkers about vaccines. I explained to them that it’s safe, thousands of studies proved they are, I also mentioned vaccines are produced just like any medicine. And yet people take paracetamol willy nilly without question but somehow treat vaccines differently; even though overusing paracetamol could lead to hearing loss as happened to my dad.

However, I admit that what got me is the mRNA vaccine technology when a colleague said there has been no human trial of it before. The technology has actually been developed for over 40 years but with strong proof of concept. But I find it hard to explain that to laypeople.

  • Honestly, I find the whole things reeks of ignorance. I don’t expect everyone to know everything, but I thought Algeria is a well known enough country; and I am surprised that the fact Imane came from there did not clue in everyone as to why she can’t be a transwoman! I am in a discussions group and one person brought up the controversy in the chat. The guy is a boomer and probably fell easily to fake news from social media. I gave the simple response that she’s from Algeria to clue him in, but others had to explain several times why it is fake news that Imane is supposedly a transwoman!

As I grow older, I realise that people can’t know what you know and vice versa. Which is completely fine; but on the one side it shows how each of us are in our own bubble which can have detrimental effects, not just for our own personal growth, but also to the wider society.

  • I forgot about Second Thought. I googled about being him kicked out from Nebula and many people accuse him of having become a full on tankie.

I don’t really want to get invested in the drama but I’m not surprised. Last time I watched Second Thought, he had been more radicalised but I didn’t expect him to become a tankie.

  • Keir Starmer showed you can do it by looking competent and serious.

He doesn’t have a charisma to be honest, unlike Blair.

Also, many people voted Labour solely because they voted against Tories, not because people like Starmer and Labour. The fact that Starmer isn’t polling well in terms of popularity shows that. But this doesn’t matter seeing as Labour won a landslide.

I just hope that Labour and Starmer doesn’t end up like the German SDP and Olaf Scholz. The latter won but doing badly as government. Scholz also presented an air of seriousness but is unpopular.
