  • Oh no. They gave the task of remastering 3 big games running on old ass software full of hacked together code, within like 2-3 years, to a tiny studio of like 20 people that only ever made mobile games before. It was set up to fail. It’s like asking your crackhead cousin to redo your bathroom and you come home to find he’s ripped out all the copper pipes for beer money.

At least they’ve seen to have learned their lesson. The much smaller task of doing a basic port for RDR1 for Playstation and Switch was given to an actually decent sized development studio (Double Eleven). Lot of people got mad it wasn’t a remaster or something, but it is a perfectly fine port and you get the full RDR1 experience on a Switch

  • To be fair, stating the obvious, which she does quite a lot, is also quite advantageous. Like, sure, that Klingon Captain seems angry and insulted, but what if he’s just a really good actor trying to deceive a Federation ship? When Troi goes “Yup, he’s angry and insulted” that would basically be the go ahead to assume he’s telling the truth and act accordingly.

But TNG writers usually only seemed to remember there was an empath on the bridge at the last second, so they just wrote in she can’t sense anything

They all repost to each other anyway. Some creators will just post directly to several of them, but there’s also entire content factories designed around stealing other peoples creative works and reposting them on a different platform.

I was on reddit a couple times past couple of days for some specific purposes (like looking up Minecraft seeds). Checked the front page and stuff out of curiosity and I genuinely don’t know if the content was already as bad when I left or if Lemmy just gave me new standards or something, but Jesus Christ. It’s all just ragebait and TikTok reposts, even though everyone on reddit always claims to hate TikTok. It’s like if you collected all the lowest tier posts from every other site and then gathered them in one.

  • It’s actually not an issue in Starfield, people just don’t have a clue about the game. Everyone that touches one of the artifacts for the first time gets the vision and can get the temple power. There’s an entire quest where you go to a temple with Barrett and get him a power as well. When you talk to the Emissary and the Hunter, it’s revealed that you die in quite a lot of the other universes. You’re not the chosen one in any capacity, you’re just a random person, there’s nothing special about you.

The main quest also gives you literally zero urgency to complete it. The fate of the universe isn’t at stake, no great threat is looming that requires you to collect them (at least not until way later and even then not really), they’re just a mystery that a group of scientists and explorers is investigating.

  • A lot of people forget that there’s different kinds of RPGs. Or just games in general. To them, every RPG has to be Baldurs Gate 3 now. Just like previously, every open world now had to be Elden Ring or else it sucks. Sandbox RPG? Never heard of it. Like, can you fuck off to the wilderness and start producing drugs in BG3? Can you build a spaceship that looks like a massive cock? That’s the sort of freedom you get in a Bethesda RPG, where doing random shit in the world is a viable way to play. Are you gonna finish the main story by making drugs? No, but you’re gonna level up and make money.

I think Bethesda games are like the remnants of a genre that has become rarer and rarer. I mean, how many games released these days are actual sandboxes, and not just regular open world games pretending to be sandboxes? Zelda is one that comes to mind, but not really many more outside of Bethesda. Sandbox games are a dying breed in the AAA space, and for some reason some people really just want to deliver the killing blow to it.
