Up till now, I’ve primarily been on Mastodon. But I’ve been exploring other corners of the Fediverse.
Interesting. I scrolled through the guide and one thing that was unclear is where does the adb.exe file come from?
I’ve been using Proton Mail and GrapheneOS for some time now. Early in I found an app called You Have Mail that solved the pushnotifications problem for me. I’ve never used Tutanota, so I can’t speak for it at all, but I really like Proton.
Yeah I got a lot of help from them too after my initial set up.

If you’re willing to give Docker a shot (I’d never used it before either), this is what I used to get started. I’ve tweaked some stuff since then, but I feel like this is a good start for beginners.
I don’t think this is exactly what you’re looking for, but Overseer/Jellyseerr offers notifications through Telegram for requests when they’re made, approved and available.
It’s not a plug-in, but the best I know of is Radarr an indexer for movies, Sonarr an indexer for TV, and Jellyseerr a requester that connects to Radarr and Sonarr.
Oh wow that’s great. I had been hoping to find something like that! Thanks!
So it basically only routes your torrent client through the vpn instead of your whole system?
Thanks!
Thanks for the explanation. Hopefully I can figure all that out when the time comes.
“Is that the inbuilt kill-switch of your VPN? Which VPN software do you use, which provider?”
To be clear I meant remote access and access on other devices. So I can still access my JellyFin server on my computer when my vpn is connected, but if I try to access it on my TV or outside my home network it tells me the server is down. I’ve always assumed it’s just because the vpn is hiding my actual ip that my server is connected to so other devices can’t see it.
Newbie question for you. I’m in the process of building myself a server for the first time after running Jellyfin on my computer for a while. One issue I had on my computer is every time I have my VPN connected to download content, my server is unavailable. How does this work on a server?
One of my favorite podcasts did a whole episode about this: https://srslywrong.com/podcast/232-i-hate-mondays/
Portable as in accessible outside the home network? That’s one nut I could never crack with port forwarding etc.
I’ve been using JellyFin for sometime but I don’t have a docker image installed. What purpose does it serve?
Correction: I just tried again and viewed the post on Mastodon. The alt text does appear there, so the code does work. Just not when viewed on Friendica. Am I just looking in the wrong places? Or does it just not display natively?
Thanks for the info about BBCode. I didn’t know about this option before. However I can’t figure out how to implement some of it. I was testing out alt text and am pretty sure I was formatting the BBCode properly. Once I created the post, it would display the image but I could never figure out how to view the alt text. Do you know how to implement it?
The only difference I’ve ever noticed between Invidious instances is some allow downloading and others don’t. If you like having the option to download, you could seek one of them out.
I finally got one email on Tuesday saying there’d be another email that night or the next day with instructions. Still haven’t seen anything.
