It’s my belief that the reason the written word or things like clocks are usually unreadable in dreams, is because the animal is both illiterate and innumerate. Dreams are the animals understanding of our waking experience. It knows these patterns are important and how they relate to other things, but it has no fucking idea what any of it actually means.

Sample size of two, but mine don’t seem to have strong feelings on them either way. Although the older one (still in single digits) prefers Minecraft on the pc to the Switch, despite starting out on the latter.

Former?

A phone shop managed to palm one off on my FIL around the same time MS threw in the towel. He was using it until last Christmas when we got him a replacement due to it not having LTE and the 3g signal being switched off in the UK last month.
When I say he used it, I mean he could make and receive calls, and could read (but not send) texts. The lack of app support never bothered him because he never needed a smartphone in the first place. We got him a flip phone with physical keyboard and VoLTE. I had to use the WP a bit while dealing with the network to get a new 4g SIM and the UI, while alien, was surprisingly snappy for such an old device.

I’m aware of the community this is posted in, but my kid talks to her grandparents via the chat features in Google photos. Works over WiFi with specific contacts and no phone number required. It lets her show them pictures she’s drawn.
Google are involved of course, but there’s no algorithm pushing promoted posts or any of that BS
