I have Nvidia, the actual experience of driver updating and installation on Nobara was seamless, it just has a setup tool that detects the card and downloads the drivers. The same was true for other peripherals, my razer keyboard and mouse were easy to setup, there was a tool for my XBOX controller.
The recommendation to get AMD is reasonable for new builds, but it’s also one of those little issues. I’m just not willing to give up my 4080 for a less capable piece of hardware. But again, I didn’t have any real issues, even VRR and dual monitors worked fine. Ray tracing was working in Steam games, but I couldn’t figure out how to get it running for my GOG games and whatnot. Like I said, it’s so close to being ready for daily driving, but not my personal use case.
I spent a few months last year running Nobara. I’m back on Windows unfortunately. There are a ton of games that ran just fine, but there’s also a lot of little issues. For example, in Grim Dawn I couldn’t type in chat, in Pathfinder WotR I simply couldn’t get mods to work, STALKER Anomaly simply wouldn’t load. Then there was the big issue of my mouse cursor dropping below full screen games. Still there, but not visible. The only fix I could use was to restart the computer.
It’s tantalizingly close to ready, and if you don’t care about modding it probably already is. For me it just didn’t work out, yet.
The crab, damn.
Sometimes even old enemies can be brought together by the discovery of what they have in common as opposed to what divides them. Violent atrocities against civilians for example.
Huh. Anyway.
This is a little bit silly, that pretty clearly was a mistake, it also led to new ROE regarding the safety cordon around approved targets. Additionally Serbia was a combatant nation, that’s why embassies often evacuate nations involved in hostilities. Israel routinely attacks 3rd country targets, they struck with multiple weapons. Syria and Iraq are not parties to the current situation in Gaza. The idea that countries with governments or general population that are not in favour of the IDF massacre of civilians means almost every country is “involved” according to Israeli targeting doctrine.
Germany: “Ok, so like, we definitely kinda did a bad right? But what if helped you guys do the same bad, are we back in bro-town?”
Of course they will. This little spat with America over how difficult the genocide is for Biden’s campaign hasn’t slowed down the flow of material aid. They know they can do whatever they want, they’ve pushed as far as broadly declared and publicised genocide without significant consequences, really the only boundary they have left to test is nuking Tehran or something.
This reminds me of the scene in Schindler’s List where the Nazi officer takes a rifle out onto his balcony and amuses himself by shooting and killing some of the Jewish camp inmates. Once a group has it’s humanity stripped away from it the darkest side of people will show in how they are treated.
There’s video of a destroyed patriot launcher as well. No point blaming the new command staff. The freeze on munitions by the republican party in the US has meant rationed fire by the UAF. Their casualties have climbed, and they have been steadily forced back. They are forced to push critical equipment forward to prevent the steady retreat from becoming a break in the line.
Whether consciously or not the US Congress has given the Russian war effort a much needed boost. Artillery is the jab of the battlefield, once the ammunition runs out it’s all eye gouging and knees to the groin. Losses are inevitable.
I’ve been mostly playing Pathfinder 1e for years, we use the same system. It’s great when it does happen though.
Look, those kids aren’t going to kill themselves.
It is definitely true that the numbers are unlikely to be exact. That is both for the reasons others have noted, propaganda is definitely at play on both sides of any conflict. A second reason for the likely imprecise number though, is that many casualties are probably uncountable currently as numerous buildings have collapsed under bombardment. Fully surveying those sites for bodies is difficult with continuing combat in the area. We know the buildings are destroyed due to surveillance and other intelligence sources, but can’t yet know how many people were killed and injured during the destruction.
There are also reasons that the UN and other international organisations take the figures seriously. This is primarily because of historical accuracy, this is not the first occasion of strikes in the area and surveys in the aftermath of previous incidents have generally shown reasonable reporting accuracy from the Gazan health authority. Additionally there are other international organisations on the ground and reporting corroborating evidence of mass collateral casualties. UNICEF has supported the reporting on the 3700 children killed so far, inclusive of civilians on both sides. Recently Doctors Without Borders here in Canada issued a plea to our government, based on their presence in Gaza, calling for ceasefire directly because of the unreasonably high number of collateral casualties.
At this juncture it doesn’t seem likely that the numbers are precise, but even a much more conservative estimate would be quite shocking and aligns with action in the Syrian civil war (for example) much more than with action in western invasions or Ukraine. That suggests that, at the very least, insufficient effort is being put toward limitation of collateral casualties. It’s also important to remember that while the three-to-one rule of casualties in war is very loose, we are likely looking at much higher numbers of wounded than killed. That is badly complicated by the blockades, lack of power and water, as well as current military operations against the remaining hospitals in the area.
Just my thoughts, not an expert.
With the exception that it would actually be your house.
I like the saying that MAGA stands for Make Attorneys Get Attorneys. No wonder lawyers eject. More than a few have joined the defendants. Work with criminals and sometimes it rubs off on you.
This was totally out for me. It ran ok on my setup, but it was a shit game. It randomly generated traffic when you turned your back. AI for NPCs was often barely functional. Numerous build options seemed either broken or just untested. Itemization was boring and poorly balanced. Vehicles handled like crap in a game with a car collecting activity. The crime system was so undeveloped it felt like it was a joke from the Devs with police spawning in a bowl of rice to bust a cap.
Anyways, I played about 20 hours and realized the game wasn’t finished or feature complete, and absolutely wasn’t what had been advertised. I refunded, but I’m watching feedback now and may buy again if the game is closer to it’s original sales pitch.
He has made it a priority to court both nations as part of his effort to counter Russia and China, even as India has been backsliding in its democracy and Saudi Arabia never had one to begin with.
Article agrees.
I am using Nobara, which is a Fedora based gaming distro. I definitely do not have to reboot for updates to software outside of system updates to the OS specifically. Updating Discord, Firefox, Steam, Heroic Launcher, Signal, etc does not require a reboot. Something sounds amiss. I am running straight Fedora on my Surface Pro and same story there, basically restart for system upgrades only.
