Bread and circuses. They’re already giving us scraps.

Reminds me of Jung’s theory around The Gaze, and how by ourselves we are our own subjects, capable of authoring our own paths, but as soon as another being is introduced and we’re subject to their gaze, their own aspect of being a subject necessarily forces some objectification upon us (and us on them). It’s interesting theory, and a good examination of why some people feel so incredibly uncomfortable with others around.
Funny, for me repeat offenders somehow always had a second request I couldn’t find until 430pm on a Friday. Strange how it always happened. Oh well, sucks to suck.
After the shit show of a release that was starfield, yeah, I’ll avoid playing the game with optional paid content that reeks of greed.
Amazing how that didn’t address the question at all, and instead just dismissed it with your own preconceived notions for where this conversation might go.
Awful aggro to someone just pointing out a simple fact. They never said we don’t need to address large vehicles, or even that they shouldn’t be the first thing addressed. They’re simply pointing out that these aren’t a perfect golden bullet to the issues that plague cities, and we need to be aware of the downsides to any potential solution, and be willing and able to make the changes necessary to then fix THOSE issues. I don’t expect nuance, though, everything is a dichotomy online.
Those are all awful, of course. I think the defining difference between assault and harassment are contact. So all of those would be assault, except probably the guy exposing himself. Things like wolf whistling, sexual comments etc. would be considered harassment.
For what it’s worth, both are shit, don’t do either, but I think if we want a defined difference, that’d be the one I arrive at.
Think for just a second about what may have come moments before the comic. The guy reads as if he’s responding to a question.
They are, and the most common ones are vastly more dangerous to humans, and animals, than the most common non-organic ones.
Realistically, I don’t expect people to just deny expressing criticisms. What I’m asking for is to read the room, and understand that it IS a legitimate concern for some people. If someone actively expresses that they don’t want to hear the criticism, you’re crossing from simple chatting to actively ruining something for someone.
Cool, I thought that was them, it’s been so long tho lol
What was this from? Was it twilight princess? I feel like it was twilight princess but I’m not sure.
I can’t disagree with anything you said here, so I guess it boils down to “read the room” - the situation presented by the person you commented under, to me, felt like it was talking about pretty obviously not-serious suggestions. Given what you just said, I think we’re on the same page, just approaching it from the opposite sides.
A lot of the times I feel that response comes from the person who likes a thing having not really critically examined something in the first place. What can seem like obvious flaws to someone who is examining the thing can be completely overlooked by someone just enjoying it.
When another person starts coming out with “x is trash because y” it actually can rob them of that joy. Now they ARE thinking about those things. What was once a no-strings fun thing is now riddled with flaws.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with examining something critically, or just enjoying something without a critical eye. I’m just trying to understand the legitimacy of both sides.
You don’t have to be a yes man to entertain an idea and have fun with the thoughts with the people you’re coming to this social gathering for, without saying it’s a good idea. Like, if I said “aw man, let’s feed billionaires to Capybaras, it’ll fix all our problems!” It’s way more fun and engaging to get “dude, totally. What if we like, seasoned em first, maybe boiled em alive like lobsters!” than someone taking your clear joke, and going on about how that’s murder, and Capybaras don’t eat meat. Do they? I dunno.
No joke about a month ago I found out about that app, and now I’m obsessing over bird feeders and trying to run away house sparrows. This app is DANGEROUS, it’s probably more addictive than cocaine.
Yeah, pretty much the exact same thing for me. I describe things as, I can get a single detail to pop, but then I lose the overall composition, and when I scale back to the whole image, it’s a different image.
Yes, actually. Very vividly.
I dunno, have you seen the drivers out there? Pretty sure some of them are watching movies.
