The closest I could find are the communist parties in the Middle East. They seem to have rarely (or only latently) incorporated Shiism as a theology focussing rather on politics in the region - Mansoor Hekmat seems to have written prolifically here
I think finding literature that studies Shiism as a religious movement in the context of communism would be much more interesting.
