Linux@lemmy.ml•Finally, after some time I made the switch to #Linux !English
2·2 months agoYeah, in your Firefox settings. Click the menu with the 3 horizontal lines in the top right corner, click “More Tools”, and then click on “Customize Toolbar…”. On the bottom left corner there should be a checkbox that says “Title Bar”. Uncheck that and then click “Done” in the bottom right.

Back in my day we used to spin fidget spinners while watching LeafyIsHere videos and It’s The Nutshack memes during class instead of doing work. But you wouldn’t know nothin’ bout that, that’s ancient internet stuff right there”

Buy European@feddit.uk•Some tech apps/services I personally use instead of their American/Big Tech counterparts [Updated]English
4·4 months agoHuh, weird that it says that. They let me use an anonymous profile when I installed aurora store. I didn’t have to sign in or anything and when I tap the settings icon it says my account is “anonymous@gmail.com”
I think you only need a google play account if you want to download paid applications or applications that use google pay for microtransactions or whatever.

41·5 months agoBig tech doesn’t believe in the concept of consent. It’s why all the "no"s turned into "not now"s and "ask me again later"s like a decade ago.

Linux@lemmy.ml•According to Pornhub data (yes seriously!) Linux market share in 2024 increased more than 40% relative to 5.1% of all users.English
441·6 months agoMy apologies, this data is misleading. Most of the new traffic is actually just me mass downloading and data hoarding porn across thousands of VMs. Whenever I need to rub one out I ssh into one of them and watch it that way. Keeps it off my main machine and keeps my browser history clean.

Linux@lemmy.ml•I have used Windows all my life, and I have some questions.English
1·8 months agoAs someone who switched from Windows to Linux Mint about a year ago and had a pretty easy time adapting, sometimes I see the advice that beginners should use an immutable distro instead of Mint and am inclined to disagree, but then I remember the Linux Mint subreddit has like, at least one person a week who somehow manages to accidentally install the GNOME desktop and makes a post like “Wtf I started up my computer and it looks weird now why does it look like this” lol
If I read OP correctly, they plan to livestream games. Screen capture isn’t as smooth of an experience on Wayland as it is on X11. Which isn’t to say one can’t do screen capture on Wayland, but that it might be a point of frustration for a Linux newbie trying to stream or record their gameplay.
