Time to repurpose those skyscrapers for residential/mixed small business use I guess. Bring down the cost of housing in SF and make people want to live there again.

Yeah, good luck with that buddy.
The only news source I could find was Fox News: Biden authorizes military to use up to 3,000 reserve troops to augment US forces in Europe
The order comes on the heels of the president’s five-day trip to Europe, which wound through the U.K., Lithuania and Finland. The trip was meant to demonstrate the force of the international coalition against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. And Biden appeared confident he had accomplished that mission, proclaiming that he and other NATO leaders showed the military alliance “more united than ever.”
Occupation. And wasn’t it a handy coincidence that the two countries we occupied, Afghanistan and Iraq, just happened to bookend Iran in the middle.
If the fediverse represents the soon-to-be-replaced web 2.0 of the past, what do you see replacing it and why do you think that will be incompatible with the fediverse apps?
I could see some block chain security/authentication features added to federated apps, and hopefully end-to-end encrypted DMs will be enabled by that same technology too. I’m just having a hard time imagining something “new” that will replace this completely.
There will probably be several TikTok-like entertainment platforms, likely filled with ad-friendly AI generated content that is 100% under corporate control and costs almost nothing to produce, but that type of platform attracts a different audience than what we have here.
Anyone could start a thread, but ideally a mod would create a stickied post so that it was easy to find over the course of the week.
It’s hilarious that this assumes old.reddit.com will survive more than a year or two after IPO.
RIF just started returning error 429 as well. I sadly uninstalled it and then launched Jerboa instead.
Firefox already has the Lemmy Link extension to do this. It seems to work pretty well from what I’ve seen.
How are you going to exchange cash for crypto in one hour?
Check out Ivanti Security Controls (née Shavlik Patch Manager) as well. Or PDQ Inventory/Deploy. Both are better options.
It is my personal goal to work less and vacation harder. So far, nobody but my family seems to have noticed.
Open the image in a new browser window, then share the URL?
Edit: I just tried this out and I had the option to share image as soon as I opened it. I didn’t even need to send it to a new window and act on the URL.
Just wait until they figure out how much more $$$$ they can make by putting all content behind microtransactions:
Imagine a world where, instead of grappling with complex tokens and crypto jargon, you have a digital wallet connected to your Web browser. This wallet would automatically handle microtransactions as you browse and consume content, creating a seamless and simplified experience, reminiscent of exchanging tokens at a funfair or arcade
This transition to the Great Paywall isn’t just about the monetization of content; it’s about balancing the scales and recognizing the value of content creators in the digital ecosystem. In the next chapter of the Web, users aren’t just passive consumers but active participants whose attention carries tangible value.
You will only see cached posts from beehaw, plus local comments on those cached posts, using your lemmy.world account. I moved today because of that and immediately noticed the difference.
So do they intend to defederate from all instances with open registration? Because there are a lot out there…
So you’re saying that they’re all concentrated in one relatively compact area then? Hmm…
