Inflation. 1 Dollar in 1978 would be worth abut 4.71 Dollars today. So the minimum wage back than would be about $12.50 in todays money.

I often forget about inflation too but it’s actually quite crazy what a huge effect ithas on the value of our money.

Fun fact Swissair was the high quality Swiss airline for decades. Then they went bancrupt and Swiss was created. It is way worse. Air trafic wise Switzerland doesn’t have a lot to offer.

You do realise that most people that have student loans controbute to the economy already because they work after studying for a short time?

Those people can often barely afford to live because the companies that got PPP loans do not pay them a living wage. Those people can’t afford buying things which in fact is the only the only way that an economy works.
Without consumption the economy crashes.

Additionally the PPP loans didn’t have any oversight. Many business owners used them to buy a new car, a Yacht or other luxuries.
Do you think it is fair to forgive loans for the rich but not the poor?

unpopular opinion: if you take out a loan, you should have to repay it in full - alternately, dont buy what you cant afford to.

This is exactly the same: big companies want everyone to build centralized big plants instead of local productionthat actually helps home owners and the regular people.

Nuclear waste is a huge problem as many countries simply don’t find a place to burry the stuff. You don’t need a lot of nuclear material to cause consequences that will last for centuries.

Nuclear Power Plants also might be safe under normal circumstances but they are not safe in case of human stupidity, wars and earthquakes/tsunamis.

Compared to something like solar or wind nuclear is just stupid. It is unsafe, only big corporations profit of it, has huge risks, is centralized and therefore a risk factor, way to expensive and simply a bad idea. It also takes decades to build Nuclear Powerplants.

So if you have some, let them keep running if you must but don’t build new ones, invest into safe sources of energy instead.

Nuclear is nowhere near clean. And its waste stays radioactive for milennias. Renewable energy sources are way cleaner.

They shouldn’t have shut down their old nuclear reactors before having an alternative to coal and gas. But nuclear is not the future. It is not economically feasinle to build new reactors and renewable energy is cheaper.

Meanwhile nuclear is not profitable without subsidies or government garanties.

Solar wind and batteries are the best way to generate electricity riggt now.
