Fellow Floridian here. I hope we can get someone better after DeSantis’ term limit is up. We live in one of the most climate change prone regions and a region where environmental changes mean a great deal.
I was born in NYC, but I raised in Florida, South Florida to be precise. Throughout my 20+ years of living here, things have just gotten worse; the affordability crisis, the political crisis, and the environmental crisis.
I know some hate this term, but class reductionism is a very apt descriptor for their take.
The general population is more educated now than in the past, but education alone is not what makes one an intellectual, or rather a good intellectual. Having intellectual virtues what makes one a good intellectual, imo. These virtues include intellectual humility, intellectual courage, intellectual curiosity, intellectual honesty, and intellectual responsibility.

I commute by car, I drive 18 miles and it takes about 24 minutes to get to work. I like the highway I take to get there, it leads out west to outskirts of the city and I like how the landscape changes from urban to rural. My workplace is in a commercial park surrounded by mostly undeveloped land. The only part I hate is that there are no bus routes in the area, having a car is a requirement for the commute.
Yeah, he’s pretty toxic, that’s not even one of worst things he’s done, but my family is toxic in general.
Honestly good. There are plenty of used and pre-owned vehicles that just need minor repairs or tune-ups. I drive a used 2015 Chevy Spark, financed it back in 2022 and it’s nearly paid off. My car only needed a new battery, new tires, and an oil change. My mom on the other hand financed a new luxury Acura RDX back in 2018 as an upgrade from her 2006 Honda CRV, she’s still making payments to this day. I asked why she didn’t get a newer Honda CRV and she said that she didn’t want the same vehicle as a McDonald’s worker.
It’s not entertaining, but it is interesting.
I’m happy to be a part of that demographic. My upbringing only contributed to my irreligiosity.
For me it’s mostly related to my autism among other factors.
Older gen z here, I definitely fall into that category. Many factors have contributed to it.
I remember when a lady tried to scam me into an MLM at a job fair I attended several years ago.
I’m going to be honest, I’m probably not going stay on lemmy for much longer. It’s just the few toxic members ruining for the majority couple with the extreme political polarization. Some people turn benign discourse into heated arguments and argue in bad faith and some leave mean spirited or nasty comments without provocation. Those are the things that I do not miss from Reddit. I’ve already blocked a few people, but that’s not something that Iike to do, but such is life.
If I were to describe it in a simple way I’d say it feels very anti-normie.
That was pretty uncalled for. You couldn’t possibly know that about them and plus your comment just comes across a just plain mean spirited. There are better ways to get your point across.
Thank you.
