  • To play it all out: why the heck is Nick Locarno flying around in a little ship capable of disabling the systems on larger warships, transporting(?) the ships and crews to some planet while leaving wreckage behind?

He’s not. He’s making deals with the lower deckers of those ships to make it look like his ship can do all that. They say in the episode that the lower deckers of the kidnapped crews are disabling the shields and weapons. Then he makes off with the crews and some of their technology for reasons yet unknown, abandoning the command staff on planet Knife Rain to fend for themselves.

  • It’s definitely both. A lot of folks don’t understand that insects and shellfish are similar, and I’ve yet to see “product may contain insect meal / aggravate shellfish allergies” on things that have crickets or are processed in facilities that handle insect meal. So, the FDA likely needs to catch up. But, it’s also a cheap filler protein that’s easily grown, and companies are cheap bastards, so it’s going to slowly find its way in and push out more expensive protein options.

  • It’s worse than that, because the official app spams your phone with tracking requests. I know most apps do some tracking, but users with apps that track the trackers have reported as many as 500k requests in 24 hours.

This is not only an invasive breach of privacy from a link aggregator forum, but also straight up murders your battery life.

I just got a brand new Pixel 7a before this nonsense started. I installed the reddit app because Baconreader is like twelve years old and I’d figured I’d see if their official app had gotten any better since I last used it. It hadn’t, of course, but I also noticed my brand new phone wasn’t holding a charge at all. Like, 20% battery left at 5pm while I’m still at work and barely using it.

Reddit was using over 40% of my battery while fucking IDLE. I brought this up over there and a few other people looked at it. Someone reported it was using 60% of their iPhone’s battery in the last week. It’s repugnant.

  • Six floating orange orb-like lights in the evening sky in an arranged pattern like / \. This was in the 90s so we didn’t have drones, and they were fucking huge, like, half the size of the moon huge. They just hung there, occasionally one of them would blink out and then come back. Absolutely no sound at all.

Saw it with some friends. We ran inside to tell our parents and when we all came back outside it was gone.

Weirdest shit ever. Never seen anything before or after.
