I did some analysis and then tested everything myself. I’ve now arrived at the only possible conclusion: it’s aliens.
For insurance to cover it the data tells them whether you are using it or not. If you don’t meet the minimum usage they won’t pay for the machine. Buying it yourself negates that, but they can get spendy.

Yes, and one of the reasons I want to keep it going. It’s an old Fujitsu and has a cool form factor (another reason). Thank you, but the better thing I did was to kick Amazon to the curb and lessened needless purchasing. Thus I have much less packing materials to recycle. That’s the real win for me.
