Very fair and reasonable points. That’s interesting to know about the dev, I had no idea! It’s gotta be a shit load of work. I look forward to seeing where it goes from here

Someone else had suggested Connect, I’m using it rn and I adore it. Will be using this in the meantime, but I still want to give Jeroba and other apps a chance! I’m mostly eagerly awaiting Boost for Lemmy, though, since that’s what I used for reddit
Just wanted to update you, Connect feels fantastic and I absolutely love the UI/UX. Thanks again for the recommendation!
I still want to give all the other apps a chance tho, don’t think I’m ditching Jeroba quite yet :)
Yeah I feel like I’ve had this for like 1-2 weeks intermittently. I’ll try out Connect in the meantime. Thanks!!
I’ll try that and see if it improves. No idea why I didn’t consider trying that first lol
Thanks!
That might explain it then. Thanks for the resource!
Issue resolved, it was on my end :) turns out I had “view nsfw content” unchecked, and I hadn’t realized this was a NSFW community
Makes sense, thanks for the advice!
Let’s say I xpost from !archive@lemmy.world - where should I xpost to? Should I not xpost back to c/gaming or would that actually be allowed? I’m just worried about the guides no longer being accessible by new users, that’s my main goal. Even if they might not be checked if they’re still accurate, if I used reddit, someone might comment like “thanks this helped” or “this was actually patched” and then I’d update the post
Maybe I’d just post in an archives community, update the original reddit post, and just call it a day. I’m probably overthinking this, I just want to be helpful
Thank you for sharing! Now I will know where to look for something like this. I thought that if I had written it, it would be valid given that I am actually trying to inform or discuss (whether they’re still accurate). I can see how it’s kind of a weird line, but then again I didn’t know what else to do as I explained in this post and it was only like 4 or 5 posts. I probably could’ve gotten away with it if I didn’t post them the same day, but maybe not
Related - I hope that’s just a 3d ban, not permanent, right? If I read that correctly
A gameguides community is a good idea, someone else mentioned that. I just don’t want to create that if I can’t commit to maintaining it :/
I’m considering throwing them into !archive@lemmyworld like someone suggested. Should I xpost into c/games or is that a bad idea? (due to 1. my first reposts being deleted then banned for 3d, and 2. the guides being not necessarily still accurate). I also might condense the 3 Control guides into 1 post, since I’d be linking them to google docs, there will be a lot more space to work with
I like the idea of a Game Guides community, but then that would overlap once the individual games have their own communities. Man I just wish everyone migrated off reddit, it would make this so much easier. I don’t want to have to moderate a Game Guides community though, because I can’t commit to that :( I’m considering throw it into !archive@lemmy.world like someone said
If new users (not from the original reddit post) try to find this information, will it be just as easy in c/archive compared to c/gaming?
I know right now, googling isn’t as easy as “Lemmy control collectibles guide” vs before “reddit control collectibles guide”
Edit: Looks like I can’t post yet in !archive@lemmy.world yet. In the sidebar, I still see it as a WIP. Hopefully it doesn’t take too long before it opens up. I don’t want to create my own gameguides community, because I can’t commit to moderating it properly
There was no reason given,or at least I don’t know where to look - there doesn’t seem to be like a reddit modmail thing. I had received a notification that someone replied and I went to reply back, but I kept getting errors, and that’s how I found out they were removed
Maybe I’m over thinking it and they thought it was spam. But idk how they can think that when they didn’t delete the Vindictus guide, and my profile clearly shows me as not a spammer
Thanks for the reply. I just looked into VIAL, is it overly complex? I just want to avoid more complications or problems. Is your suggestion for this just to allow me to customize the knobs better? Or do you have other reasons that I should switch? Cause it turns out that I do still have the FN issue
We took the keyboard apart (which took ages, so I want to avoid having to do that again lol, though I guess that’s part of the whole custom keyboard deal), and fixed the stabilizer. But then that created clacking from the left side of the backspace, so something was hitting, I managed to fix that mostly (good enough) without taking the keyboard back apart
I also learned that the GMMK Numpad comes with north facing PCB for some reason, but the I found that they sold their own south facing PCB which I was glad to hear. We started taking it apart, and one of the screws stripped sooo bad that it took us the whole night to figure out how to get that damn thing out. We ended up drilling it out (I don’t know the details, my partner is an engineer so he figured it out) so thank god that’s done, but just another complication that came up
Seems like nothing is ever easy when you buy anything now
edit: Forgot to mention, someone else (last comment by u/trash@lemm.ee) mentioned using vial with QMK - Is this what you did? My concern is that since my numpad is external, it’ll make this a lot more complicated and tedious because then I’ll have 2 separate devices, and one is supposed to be working wirelessly. I just want simple, but maybe that’s not an option in my case. Maybe I’ll just deal with the software until it’s not meeting expectations anymore
It feels nice and warm, that’s for sure :) I hope it stays this way but the content grows to where I can use this as my new source of information
Semi-related… You guys have any tips for seeing new popular posts? I have checked subscribed top week, subscribed top day, even month, and then even all for those 3. I feel like I only see new content every 3-5 days. Or is that just because we’re still growing and I’m just used to the overflow of content on reddit? lol
Boost refugee reporting!!
I should probably just uninstall Boost from my phone :( I just opened it and seems to be working, but maybe it hasn’t kicked in yet
There are still some subreddits that I used a lot that [seem like they] haven’t migrated over yet :/ battlestations, intermittentfasting, lostark, oneplus, purdue, my local town, etc. It just sucks a lot since I’m trying to avoid using reddit entirely :(
I completely agree. It makes sense that AI is not good at determining truth vs fiction. I think it’s more important for us as users to just search for information on our own, then determine the “end answer” with our own judgement after reviewing different sources and experiences (taking each individual answer with a grain of salt)
That’s why, I personally think AI search engine won’t be the best all-rounder for all types of information that’s not niche, deep searching which is IMO better found on forum-like platforms where people (enthusiasts) share sources, their experiences, what worked, what didn’t work, and why. For AI, maybe just simple bland information, like an excel formula, or how to hot wire a car, is better

edit: wack, this comment showed up in one of my threads I created so I was super confused. disregard lol
Yea, so what I was thinking was edit all of them with PDS with a template I have, then go back manually to specific posts/guides and add links to the new guides. Sounds like that would work then, thx :)
