Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Does anyone else hate how everyone is trying to make money all the time?
2·1 day agothe thing that gets me is these people don’t realize there’s a much easier way to make $ not working…just play the stock market, that’s what all the big rich fucks who don’t do any real work do. it’s one big casino that most people buy into passively, especially in bubbles like this…it’s incredibly easy to make shitloads of $. it’s so easy that you quickly lose any interest in “grinding”.
it’s certainly not fulfilling though…gambling is no way to make a living.

1·1 day agoif it’s any consolation, this bubble with burst soon and most of these types will be too distressed working an actual job to bother chasing the rat-race

8·14 hours agoit really does start young…it dawned on me recently that this was the whole point to musical chairs, and a number of other childhood “games” pushed onto us at school in bumfuck nowhere. there are so many of these shitass towns in the middle of nowhere, whose whole existence is basically just the local real estate robber barons trying to get one of their kids to “make it” so they can funnel a bunch of $ back into their fief.
and the backbone of all of it is exploiting a deliberately under-educated workforce…american capitalism is fucking disgusting.
i think the thing that pisses me off most is how long it took me to get around to the fact that everybody knows this, and just…either accepts their place or doesn’t care because the system benefits them.
i’m autistic…until this realization clicked for me i was kind of running around in dismay wondering why noone seemed to care everything was collapsing…but this too is just another part of the plan, it’s called “boom and bust investing/disaster capitalism”

Global News@lemmy.zip•China calls for Maduro’s immediate release, accuses US of breaching international lawEnglish
16·3 days agothe US is making it more easy than ever for China to set itself up as the new world reserve currency/police/center of stability.
china works towards china’s self interests, they’re predictable but ultimately easy for the west to respond to if they stop ratfucking for a split-second.
you can’t say remotely the same for the US, the US is an abusive partner that smacks you around for 4 years then gaslights you things are different (while still smacking you around) for 4 years, repeat
not taking adhd meds
how do you do it?

Memes@lemmy.ml•My life has been way better since I started keeping a cursory view of headlines once a day
3·10 days agothe people paying attention to the news constantly and using that to actually makw change are not watching a constant stream of it from their phone…they’re coordinating in groups to affect the most effecient change for their time/sphere of influence (first step generally being to secure the local government, the majority in the US are captured by local business/real estate baron interests)
if your sphere of influence just comprises your immediate family and friends, it does you no good to occupy your mind with the suffering of those halfway across the world (unless you think their suffering is tied to an easily solvable problem you have the answer to). doing so just robs you of energy/agency to affect change where you can have the most impact.
there’s saying i don’t remember where it’s from… before you fix the world you have to fix your country, before you fix your country you have to fix your community, before you fix your community you have to fix your neighborhood, before you fix your neighborhood you have to fix your family, before you fix your family you have to fix yourself.

Memes@lemmy.ml•My life has been way better since I started keeping a cursory view of headlines once a day
4·10 days agoyou definitely can do things about it, but there’s a whole sphere of influence/realistic expectations type shit everyone should consider, when trying to do something about it. worrying about things you can’t control and that don’t immediately effect you or the ones close to you you (i hate English) care about is just draining and robs you of agency over the things you can control.
