I’ve seen bad instruction and will follow it because it’s part of the instruction (15 years ago I had one that graded by the number of sentences in your answer, they can get dumb), but I totally see how ChatGPT would just make stuff up.

No need for a diagram, I feel it’s dumb and can be summed up really quickly. If your job is to teach, and you instead require additional time, perhaps schedule more classtime instead of outsourcing the step by step instruction part to the children’s parents (requesting they teach a method they were never taught… looking at you common core bs). If the math lesson requires more instruction, make the finger-painting the homework, or plan the lessons to include time to reinforce the concepts.

Just a personal opinion though.

I’m with the whole ‘metric is better crowd’, I mean base 10, c’mon that makes shit easy. On the other hand, I prefer Fahrenheit for temp 100%, Celsius is just not good for it (personal preference I guess). A lot of that is probably due to growing up in the USA, but having lived in a few other countries I just prefer Fahrenheit.

Given they were required to add an interface to back up your recordings back in the 90s (I think it was the 90s), I’d kind of agree. The DVR itself makes a crappy long term storage, but the spirit is akin to a VCR, totally intended for saving video recordings.

Edit: after a lot of reading, I cannot seem to find a source for what I typed, I must be misremembering things, maybe FireWire was added by the kindness of manufacturers back then.

I used to frequent a thrift shop that gave books away for free, I saw a copy of Cloud Atlas and thought it would be a good read (it was). I accidentally for the dust cover a little then looked at the title page, signed first edition. Not worth much, but cool nonetheless.

I haven’t played in a couple decades but I loved how 2nd edition handled it. Humans have one racial ability above everyone else, we’re generalists. No special bonuses to see through illusions, no magical night vision, just the ability to be any class, and able to reach all levels in said class.

Don’t give up too easily friend. I’ve been slowly moving some of my hone systems away from Window’s, and much like you, I’ve spent close to 20 years as a Windows admin. I have the advantage of using Linux on my always ancient laptops over the years and it is my personal opinion that Debian is the way to go.

Give LMDE (Linux Mint Debian Edition) a go, it is very familiar to navigate coming from Windows and isn’t going to have constant updates breaking stuff (looking at you Arch).

First thing after installing run apt-get update, then add the Nvidia drivers (add the source to your sources and install, if you need help, post back and we’ve got you!) and reboot.

My goal is to move to nice IP cams one day but for now I have analog cameras and a DVR in the closet hooked to a cheap monitor that’s paid for.

Try the app IPCamViewer by Robert Chou (here is a link to the lite version, I think there is an iOS one as well https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rcreations.ipcamviewer). It can view damn near any brand DVR, that at least let me view stuff remotely.

If you want to up it another level, if your old school DVR supports RTSP, you can probably feed that into something like Frigate for real time alerts and object detection.
