Blogs are a good idea. We should go back to them instead of being dependent on social media.

Lemmy needs to move away from downvotes altogether, or make it totally pointless. Just because Reddit uses it doesn’t make it a good idea.
It is how giant publishing houses self-destruct in the gaming space. They fail to realize how difficult it is to build up talented devteams. Everything becomes about maximizing profits in the end. Between the shitty monetization tactics and the terrible working environment they’ve created, they end up destroying their ability to make good games. I fully expect more mediocrity from Xbox/Activision-Blizzard, if not declining quality.
Those people are Tesla fanboys and investors. They are blatantly lying about competitive threats to BEVs. In reality, they have become a type of climate change denier. For them, the only “solutions” that can exist are the ones that make them money, and all the others must be stopped.
There’s a good chance Cruise will land someone in jail. And frankly people should go to jail over this.
We’re slowing turning smartphones into dumbphones again. Many of us used to rock 10+ year old phones, since phone calls and texting doesn’t need anything fancy.
A big chunk of the green movement is totally complicit with this type of behavior. For many of them, it is just about fundraising, not serious action against climate change.
That’s just propaganda from BEV companies. They just saying that so people won’t realize that hydrogen solves many of the problems of electric cars.
We will drop electric cars because hydrogen cars are fundamentally superior.
People really don’t know what “left” is suppose to mean. Socialism is suppose to be a real political position, not a slur. What is consider liberal these days is really right-wing politics.
Everyone with a brain has left Xitter.
This parallels the height of GM, when they put money in everything from satellites to ATMs. Sure, at the time there was plenty of money to dump on such ventures. But eventually, those bad bets caught up to them. It seemed like a “no big deal” when a hugely profitable company wasted billions of dollars on bad investments. But each one of those bad investments represented a lost opportunity for a good investment. Eventually, the cash cow at GM ended, and the company is left with nothing but huge debts and worthless investments. Any tech company that is just buying the equivalence of lottery tickets is probably destined for failure too, no matter how profitable it is right now.
And another with hydropower removed. Dams weren’t exactly built with green energy as a goal.
Nuclear is way safer than just about any other energy source.
I’ve come to realize that many a tech company are ran by morons.
If you mean the cost of battery mining/production, it’s all three. We currently can’t even make batteries without vast amounts of fossil fuels. And due to many factors like long-duration energy storage problems, BEVs can’t reach net zero without hydrogen anyways.
Which is basically the same problem with green transportation: A car is usually lightly used, but every once in a while you drive hundreds of miles. That requires a high capacity energy storage mechanism where “efficiency” is not that big of a concern. But that creates the need for hydrogen cars. At best, you can conceive of a plug-in hybrid car where short trips are battery powered. But then you have redundant infrastructure, and it is simpler to just to move everyone to hydrogen.
Other than ideas like synfuels, it is the only thing that makes sense for cars. People are just falling prey to BEV propaganda. You don’t want unsustainable mining and a >400kg battery pack in every car. It is the big act of greenwashing today, and green transportation won’t happen until BEVs are abandoned or scaled way back.
Hydrogen is guaranteed to win this one. Batteries are just another unsustainable greenwashing idea. People are falling prey to BEV propaganda.
No one has ever explained how the energy is suppose to come back to Earth in a non-crazy fashion. Until then, this will always come off as an impossible idea.
