I used to do a ton with Processing and P5. This guy https://www.youtube.com/@TheCodingTrain did wonders for my skill and enjoyment a few years ago. I owe him a lot
Jeez that doesn’t look good
I agree with the whole discussion thing so let’s engage. I don’t really think that we have a higher quality userbase than reddit honestly. You have to be a little more tech inclined to even find your way here. I feel like it’s the same thing that happens when you go to university where you will meet a lot of people who just have to be a certain way to even find their way there. I think that lemmy is just way more like minded than a place like reddit. I won’t drone on because I think you get it. So if you want to call that ‘higher quality’ then I agree. Discussion for the point of discussion I suppose
I don’t know much about this CHWTIA. But I do know someone who works at Capgemini, can you tell me why they are considered exploitative? Genuinly curious.
Yeah I agree. Although decentralized servers also cost money so I make sure to pay the admins. I don’t mind paying for things that I use, but I just don’t think Youtube premium is a good deal :(
A walk in the dark - Arthur C. Clarke
It’s a scifi thriller short story. I believe that there is an old radio play available
Tilix
yeah look up the passenger pigeon. Used to be delicious
I do see a a fair amountof Chinese researchers publish in Applied Sciences and those are in English. I don’t know about other journals like Nature or the paid journals, but yeah at least some are publishing in English.
not to be a party pooper, but as far as I know the casimir force is essentially the van der waals force. The way I understand it is that the vacuum energy method used to calculate the force on the plates is not correct, however it seems to be an approximation of the underlying driver of this effect which is the van der waals force.
Here is a publications in Physics letter that outlines the idea.

It’s likely a light read for a physicist but a though one for a well read electrical engineer (me) but once again, I’m not a physicist so take it with a grain of salt.
He is trying to sell his book on quantum computers which is probably why he brought it up in the first place
I wouldn’t call this guy a top physicist… I mean he can say what he wants but you shouldn’t be listening to him. I also love that he immediately starts shilling his quantum computer book right after his statements about AI. And mind you that this guy has some real garbage takes when it comes to quantum computers. Here is a fun review if you are interested https://scottaaronson.blog/?p=7321.
The bottom line is. You shouldn’t trust this guy on anything he says expect maybe string theory which is actually his specialty. I wish that news outlets would stop asking this guy on he is such a fucking grifter.
Hmmm I’m more of a File.zip.tar.gz.epub.7z.xs guy
Huygens optics is really taking of, love that guy!
I really like Illinois EnergyProf Talks a lot about energy, reactors, turbines, solar you name it
Can’t wait to sell my excess brain power to crypto miners
No biggie just get someone to mount the files system and edit the ssh file 😌
Komoot does that I believe but is not open source.
Yeah those codecs always get you.
