I would say yes and no. It is a game about evolution with some similarities but it is very focused on a realistic representation of evolution. This makes it a more complex game than spore and actively encourages many different niches not just agressive, peaceful and mixed as spore did.

Aldo currently they are working on finishong the cell stage and the beginning of the multicellular stage while have more in deapth discussion about the transition between the microscopic and macroscopic phases among other things.

As a Dane I’d guess they didn’t realize Americans use it as a greating and so assumed you to be initiating a conversation unrelated to ordering, possibly with bad intentions.

It would be a little like starting the conversation with a “how is your mother”, it would signal way more familiarity than was had, come way out of left field and be generally unwanted when you are working if you don’t have time to stop for the conversation that would ensue.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think you did anything wrong necessarily, it’s just a cultural difference that likely causes misunderstandings if none of the parties are aware of it. I’d liken it to a Eurpean going to a restaurant in the US, not tipping anything and how both parties may feel the other party to be rude after the fact if the server let their dissatisfaction show.

I could of course be wrong and they may just have been an ass, plenty of those in tourist heavy areas for sure. Just something to consider if it could have been the case.

Funny that, I don’t make games but my job title is developer or software developer and my degree is in software development. It seems to me that the employee and corporation title being the same word is a quirk of language more than anyone insisting on taking the others name. The same thing happens to some degree with consultants, architects and dentists. I don’t think either of them conspire to flip the meaning, and I know that no developer I’ve ever talked to definitely doesn’t either.

Mine would be Thrive, not so much due to its current gameplay, though it is okay, but moreso due to an unwavering commitment to a vision. It has gone on for years and is essentially a scientifically close to accurate version of spore. They have almost finished the single cell stage and are working some on the transition to multicellular now as I understand it. I find it to be an impressive project as it started from the disappointment with spore and has evolved into something that I would genuinely suggest as a learning tool in middle school biology class.

So when my neighbors mother from another climate came to visit during the summer, I was wearing shorts and t-shirts but she a winter jacket. According to whos experience did Fahrenheit match the human experience? It’s very variable and cannot be made to fit everyone. That water freezes at 0 is just as arbitrary but at least it’s an experience/observation anyone can share. If it’s 0°C outside puddles will freeze. Is it warmer or colder than when ice and snow melts is as good a reference as any, and to me having grown up with it, it feels superior because it’s what I’m used to.

It could easily be argued that weather having to deal in so high numbers is a con for F and the positive negative distinction of C is an easy to understand system of how far from snow are we. As others I don’t believe one is particularly better than the other for the purpose of describing day to day weather. Your arguments ring hollow to me and often seem based on heuristics for F and often with the “close to this value” caveat making it seem like a stretch.

Obsidian is a free* notetaking tool similar to one note and such. It uses markdown for formatting and offers good extension support.

I’ve used it for free for about a year and I’m pretty happy with it.

*Some services are offered only for paid users, I think it’s only online storage /sync but I’m not sure.

Introversion isn’t an example of neurodivertion, but I suspect there is a large overlap. Many types of neurodivergence make social situations require more energy to be in, which I reason might cause an increased likelihood of being introverted.

Neurodivergence doesn’t imply Schizophrenia necessarily. It could be a variety of things, some common examples would be autism and ADHD.

This sounds a lot like recommending treating a kids broken leg exclusively with painkillers until they are adults because they might regret the treatment. While it technically might remove the most painful symptoms, it will let the problem get harder and harder to do anything about while the risk of regret for treatment is exceptionally low.

The amount of children that grow up to realize they weren’t actually trans is miniscule while the amount that, when not supported, attempt and sometimes succeed suicide is staggering. Social and later possibly medically assisted transition is the single most effective way to prevent these suicides that we know of. Keeping it from being available to children who need it, is to accept more of them will die.

I believe you want to do good, but i think you have been misinformed. Gender affirming care is on of the medical procedures with the lowest regret rate. Knee surgeries are many times more likely to be regretted. If the examples of regret should keep children from the procedure, we would have to stop giving children surgeries at all and stop many other procedures as well to stay consistent.

I really like his content as well, and even though there are lots of spoilers if you haven’t read the books, he has convinced me of reading (when i get the time) quite a few books I wouldn’t otherwise have known about or noticed.

It’s probably not, but let’s say that replying to a comment deep in a thread required an update to every parent comment (very unlikely), if the attackers knows this they could trigger that very expensive SQL query many times very quickly by letting some bots comment many times to create a very deep comment chain and force the server to make the queries. If the server didn’t, it would either mean that no one could comment in that way it would have to know what is and isn’t an attack which isn’t easy.

I think it comes up to the culture you’re in and the specifics of the situation. I often hear the question asked on call in shows from the US where it seems most people say it as basically a greeting, not always pausing for a response before continuing. In my own culture we don’t ask as much and usually only of people we have a bit more of a connection to. I imagine that the cultures represented in the talk shows would pressure one into answering in a way that doesn’t hold up the conversation. This also applies when you are already exhausted, the reasoning there just being that an honest answer will prolong the conversation and probably require talking about emotions which at least to me can be exhausting on its own.

I have tried a lot, the three min ones I keep coming back to are jerboa, connect and liftoff. They all have pros and cons and I like each and alternate between them. Liftoff is a continuation of lemur by the way. Lemur was abandoned but someone else picked it up and develop it further, providing frequent updates.

It does not. It in large part scales with the amount of content the local and federated communities. So because many users will subscribe to many of the same communities, more users will add less extra cost aftter a point. This is a bit simplified though as it also scales with users but to a lesser degree from my understanding.

It’s funny, I’m from Denmark where we also have those three ways of referring to autistic people but I much prefer the equivalent to the first and second option in Danish. Autism isn’t really used as a curse word here though it is used in a derogatory manner by some to mean something is stupid or odd.
