This technology has been in place in public spaces like airports for at least a decade. They claimed it was to fight terrorism by scanning and collecting models of everyone’s face looking for known terrorists. They said that they could identify the terrorists because even with a disguise, you can’t alter the shape of your facial bone structure.
Was there ever a point in the last 80 years when they actually felt welcome? The GOP dove headfirst into Christian Nationalism after WWII.
I came across a company called Flower Turbines, they sell tulip-shaped wind turbines. They look nice and hopefully would do well on the energy front. They claim that their turbines start producing energy with just a touch over 1 mph winds.
It looks like it would be a cute way to generate clean energy.
Potatoes aren’t native to Europe. Europeans first discovered the potato after traveling to the Americas.
You don’t think it’s important to teach how to prevent a prolapse or anal tearing/fissures? Or stress the importance of condom use in anal sex to prevent hepatitis?
We both agree that we shouldn’t be teaching sexual positions and how to bring a partner to climax, bit I think we should be teaching kids how to safely have sex so they aren’t hurting themselves.
Sounds like you learned a ton about straight sex, especially given that most sex Ed programs only tell students to abstain. You learned something about condoms, which I assume means that you learned how to put one on.
In most of the country, sex Ed is one video about puberty and then in health being told to abstain from sex to avoid pregnancy and STDs with detailed descriptions about the pain and torture of STDs.
It would be superhelpful if sex Ed programs were expanded upon your curriculum to dispel sex myths, like women can’t get pregnant if they are on top or take a shower right after. It would also be good to discuss how to prevent harm during vaginal and anal sex.
It wasn’t age locked per se. If you were in Honors English, they assumed you were reading at a higher level and could check out books one grade level higher than you and if you were in on-level English you were not allowed to read above “grade level”.
I can understand keeping a 6th grader from checking out a bunch of 1st grade level books, but discouraging kids from pushing themselves was weird
I’m glad you had teachers like that. Not sure why mine were so dead-set on only reading in your grade level. Limiting lower level makes more sense, to encourage students to push themselves more. 6th grade was the last grade in the school, so the only people allowed to read the 7th grade level books were in the 6th grade Honors English class. It’s not like the library would run out of books if all 6th graders were allowed to pick out of that section of the library
It also plays into the rhetoric that Christians are being persecuted, like the early church. It makes them feels more connected to their scriptures and further deepens that emotional connection to their religion. Church is a massive endorphin/serotonin trip. Feeling more connected to the early church makes them feel more like Paul is writing directly to them, which pushes more endorphins. The music style that’s become popular is pretty trance-like, which releases more endorphins and then when their high on the explosion of endorphins, the pastor comes in and weaponizes that feeling claiming that the gays or trans people or Muslims or the left or whoever they want to villanize are going to take that feeling away and persecute them just as the Romans did to the early church.
From how he’s spoken through his campaigns until now, I wouldn’t be surprised. He has a tremendous difficulty remembering the topic of a conversation and veers off wildly, often cutting off his own train of thought.
I wonder that the standard used for 6th-grade reading level is. I know that the 6th grade reading level at the beginning of the century is higher than the 6th grade reading level now.
I remember being extremely disappointed when I was in 6th grade and they had arbitrarily moved a lot of books up a reading level. There were a few in particular that I was looking forward to reading while in 5th grade that were at a 6th grade level. Then in 6th grade, I grabbed one of those books to check out but was told that I could t read it because it was now considered 7th grade and that I had to choose from the 6th grade level (which was largely the previous year’s 5th grade level).
Why don’t you agree? There very been coverups with news stories for a long time.
Like how in 2014 Ebola was all over the news and was suddenly pulled from news coverage the day after the election. Other times there are random stories taking over the news and I looked into what was happening in Congress and the Republicans were pushing a bill that would be detrimental to the people of the US. Just as Fox uses smoke and mirrors with rage-baiting to entrance their viewers.
Why are people making such a big deal about this? We’ve had Alert testing for tornado sirens, radio, and tv for decades.
Usually this means something big happened that someone is wanting covered up. Makes me wonder if something big happened in one of the Trump cases or Congress.
I think it’s wrong to assume that man=financial duties and woman=domestic duties. That worked in the 50s because of rampant sexism, but that train of thought is long-since outdated. I get that power dynamic is ingrained into straight culture, but especially in the scenario you’re talking about only serves to make the woman inferior to the man by making her clean for him even when they are both working. I always thought it was weird that men wouldn’t learn to cook, if you really loved the ither person wouldn’t you take the time to learn to cook at least a couple dishes to help out?
The two of you need to have a conversation about how your relationship will work. Talk about how the finances will be handled and how the chores will be handled. What works for tv couples may not work for y’all.
I did it myyy waaayyy! 🎶
That’s interesting, I didn’t realize that a photograph counted as part of the directory information. I figured that was why photos are included in the list of items on the parent consent forms sent out every year.
It was my understanding (from admin, teacher professional orgs, and teacher unions) that pictures on websites and social media need consent to be posted. So we were told that any student without a consent form had to be edited out or blurred on any picture posted anywhere.
Let’s hope they dont turn violent, like the Krogan after the genophage.
That’s why Fox News famously started touting the vaccine after it came out. They realized their base was dying out faster than democrats. This backpedaling helped push co serrations away from fox News to other sources.
Given that Lemmy is largely populated by programmers, I assume they have done next to no exercise through their 20s and mostly sit hunched over in a chair all day. So now that they are hitting their 30s, they are paying the price for abusing their bodies.
You don’t need to be huge like Arnold, but find some way to move your body every day. While you’re young in your teens, 20s, and 30s find different and interesting ways to keep your body moving and build up strength, whether that be swimming, running, larping, lifting weights, finding a local exercise meet-up, local sports league, or walking to a park and using the little exercise machines.
A lot of the back issues will go away with more core strength and lifting things properly with your legs. If you can’t think of anything, then start by sitting up straight and tall in your chair using your core to stabilize yourself and see whether in a few weeks you can get through a half or maybe even full day without slouching. Anything is better than nothing!
