Impressive may be the wrong word, but it is something, regardless of the source of the power. The levels they are able to go to without repercussion or ways they can take advantage of everything because of oil is something.

I was saying this earlier. The Saudis always manage to come out of any worldwide conflicts with more money and power than they started with. It’s impressive, honestly.
I’m not very familiar with the “history” of the time period, but I know Abraham was a Canaanite. Many Jews (and Arabs) could trace lineage to Canaan, before the collapse.
I believe it largely has to do with the peace agreement forming between Israel and Saudi Arabia combined with other factors in the region like the political instability in Israel and the protests that were ongoing, the Sukkot festival being a “good” target for terror, the holy holidays meaning many soldiers would be home with their families, and the soldiers were more heavily populated around the West Bank for Bebe’s bullshit up there, leaving the south more vulnerable, at least it seems that way to me.
But this is the end of a “two state solution” being possible. Look at Netanyahu’s tweet:
The IDF will immediately use all its strength to destroy Hamas’s capabilities. We will destroy them and we will forcefully avenge this dark day that they have forced on the State of Israel and its citizens. As Bialik wrote: ‘Revenge for the blood of a little child has yet been devised by Satan’.
All of the places which Hamas is deployed, hiding and operating in, that wicked city, we will turn them into rubble.
I say to the residents of Gaza: Leave now because we will operate forcefully everywhere.
And the Israeli ambassador to the U.S.'s speech was very clear, he said diplomacy is over. That today changes everything and the old way with peace talks and humanitarian aid is over.
The levels of barbarity are not equal. This is a massive escalation that it can not be quantified. Israel has done some horrible shit. Some seriously horrible shit. But this? This day will forever change that region, possibly the world. It’s unconscionable what has happened.
Edit: the moron I responded to blocked me, so I apologize to the two terrorist sympathizers who have responded to me. I can’t see or reply to your messages. I’m sure you’ve been told countless times that the only thing that chart shows is who has the stronger military. It does not convince anyone with the ability for critical thought to also support your fucking jihadists. You are supporting murder of innocent civilians, you are supporting rape, you are supporting the slaughter and exploitation of both Israelis and Palestinians by supporting Hamas. You’re disgusting, horrible people. Get lost.
edit2: I’ll return your picture with another picture, NSFL. You stupid removed. Want more pictures? I’m sure you haven’t seen the ones that matter. Show me the Palestinian concert that Israel went and slaughtered 260 young adults at? There were non-Israelis in the crowd. Americans, Thai, Filipino, people. Where are they listed on your chart? Why do they deserve to die?
Thank you so much for putting into words what I’ve been struggling to say. The insanity I’ve seen on the internet is boggling my mind. So much horrible shit is happening, and people feel the need to cheer.
Well said.
Unfortunately, that is where we are heading for sure. My cousin was just called to fight from the US. They’re mobilizing their entire military and calling all reserves. They have declared they will not stop until they “obliterate” Hamas. The US is moving the USS Gerold R. Ford aircraft carrier and several warships into the mediterranean as a show of solidarity, to ward off anyone else thinking they can take advantage of the situation. This is a fucking disaster. The entire country is now unified with one mission. It’s terrifying for everyone in the region. This conflict will be long and many will die. Gaza is one of the absolute worst places to fight. 2 million people in 140 sq miles.
Think of all the pollution that will be caused running new fiber cable to bumblefuck nowhere so 1 additional person or family can access the internet. It doesn’t make any more sense than Starlink, much less sense at that.
It is very improbable that there will be a collision caused by a starlink satellite. While Musk is certainly an idiot who can’t be trusted, there are intelligent people who work for SpaceX who have considered all this and more before launching their satellites.
Elon Musk is a total fool and an idiot, but like others said, this article is hogwash. The satellites do not pose a risk for Kessler Syndrome due to their LEO. They will fall to earth and burn up. They also maneuver to avoid collisions. It is highly unlikely to contribute anything at all to Kessler Syndrome.
Additionally, how are they comparing carbon footprint? Article is behind paywall. The internet infrastructure on earth didn’t pop into existence out of thin air, carbon neutral. The trucks and ships used to lay wire, the mining and manufacturing of everything involved in the process, creates carbon for both. The carbon that would be created to provide access to rural areas as an alternative. If you are going to count the carbon to make and fuel spaceships, you must also count the carbon to make the ships that lay and maintain undersea cables and trucks that maintain cable on land. The SpaceX ships are largely reusable as well, so the carbon to make the ships also needs to be split among its voyages to space just as a ship at sea makes multiple trips.
No, the opposite, actually. It makes me sad that people only care about what they think and not about what it costs, which makes me feel scared and insecure. I have extended family in Israel who have a mix of views on the situation.
Israel has been oppressing Palestinians. They have been building illegal settlements in the West Bank, pushing people from their homes. Netanyahu is a fascist, he wishes to be king. Don’t forget that the citizens have been protesting, the country has been divided. This will unite them under hate and fear. Hamas is a terrorist organization who kidnaps, rapes, and slaughters citizens. They make any negotiations for long term peace impossible. The result of this is pain and death for innocent Palestinians and Israelis. Israel will respond with force. It is the reality. Yet people all over Lemmy are cheering as if this is a good thing, as if anything good will come of this. It’s sad, and it isn’t going to make anything better for anyone.
I’m sorry your comment became the target of my frustrations with what is going on. It’s just that the situation is more complex than good guys and bad guys.
You lost your way. You see videos of men and women slaughtered in the streets. Children running and screaming from a concert. A young woman bloodied around her rear thrown into the back of a car and you cheer. Israel has no choice but to return with strength. You are cheering on slaughter. You’re disgusting.
You are inhumane. Your argument is “Israel has a stronger military, so they should allow Hamas to slaughter and rape their population and shoot thousands of rockets into their cities”
What lovely news to wake up to. Sigh.
The Warriors would be a fun remaster. I loved that game and movie.
They did not. They went back and edited >!the blood into a scene and edited him out of the final scene of the season. Then they filmed one additional scene after he was fired where Naomi and Holden talk about his death!<. Everything came out about him after filming was wrapped.
Backblaze. Automated with Velero in kubernetes.
Republicans are the ones who sponsored and overwhelmingly supported the bill to extend non dischargeable student loan debt. The conservative court is the one who struck down Biden’s loan forgiveness. The GOP in the house are the ones refusing to include debt relief in funding bills. Nice to know you’re not only ignorant, but you’re proud of it. So this isn’t worth my time anymore.
Which brings me back to my first point. It’s a shame everybody has taken out these loans for an education and don’t know anything about how our political system works.
I’ve stared at the candle for so long that now I can see without my eyes.
