I worked with a guy that if he slept in or ran late for work tossed his gym gear on instead of his work clothes and ran into the office apologising and went to the bathroom to get changed.
People thought that he was a fitness NUT and he always stayed back to make up the time so he was called dedicated. In truth I knew he trained after work and regularly stayed up mega late playing COD and slept through his alarm.
Id say the one thing I kind of disagree with here is the emails. If I’m at my computer and the email says “Are you able to handle this 15 minute job for me by EOD?” I respond immediately “Yeah, I can fit that in.” and then go back to whatever it was I was doing and handle it later.
If someone is asking me to do a big job I dont reply immediately and go do some prep work for the big job and email them an hour later. “Not a problem, Ill get on it ASAP.”
If you respond and get tasks done immediately sometimes it makes them think you must be in the middle of something when you dont. When someone gives you a big task that will take 4 hours and they check in on you 3 hours after you reply to the email and you’re almost finished, it puffs up your ability.
But in general I agree, responding to emails is a great tool for managing perceptions and expectations.

In all seriousness, the potential use cases for this are more useful for senior management than for the employees who actually have to have the meetings. Being able to have your avatar sit in on a meeting and get a condensed transcript to skim later still gives you a more accurate idea about what was actually said in the meeting than a report or the meetings minutes. The AI doesnt have an axe to grind on bias.

Problem is that Nintendo for all their faults still make GREAT games for kids. And if adult pc gamers think they have it bad they should have a look at the predatory shitshow that is tablet games for the 5 and under market… its properly fucking ridiculous. At least Nintendo has the common decency to give me an amazing and full game for its eyewatering prices.
As the parent of a small child I wish I could boycott Nintendo.

The art/performance was just so far beyond good that you cant deny the cultural significance. E.g Michael Jackson, Elvis, Tupac.
You had a personal connection to the art before they did the shitty thing or before it came to light. (In my case: early Chris Brown, Kid Rock) They were big in my late teens and early 20s and I have positive memories associated with their songs. Not the percieved quality of the art.
They had their day in court, did their time and time has passed. E.g Mark Wahlberg, I dont know the guy, I dont know if he is a good person or not these days. But the last documented occasion of him being a huge violent racist asshole is 1992… 32 years ago.

I was a bouncer for years and even though I did make an effort not to be a dumb thug, over time you just get more comfortable with the idea of violence.
Once you figure out that in most cases a couple of punches to the face probably isnt going to seriouslu hurt you a situation turning physical doesnt raise your heart rate, it isnt scary, its just “work” which is when guys start to get way too comfortable with just hitting because they can.
Its a problem in the sense that it happens rarely but theres some absolute horror stories. I can see why some people might want the house taken care of by a live in caretaker until they can rent it or move in.
The US federal minimum wage for someone for 24hrs 7 days a week is like $1200ish dollars a week, but you’re providing housing but not in a traditional sense, but they would be expected to do basic maintenance chores, then who pays the utilities?, etc, etc.
Im just saying that the idea is viable but you would have to do a LOT of legal legwork on a state by state basis to keep everything fair and above board for all parties.
There would be a few interesting legal hurdles to overcome. Being classed as tenants grants them certain rights, if they are employees they have certain rights, etc etc.
Also effectively you would need tennants who can vacate at the drop of a hat who wouldnt trash the place and dont have location dependent jobs. If your paying these people a living wage, it would never work as a business model. Maybe retired people with motorhomes, or wfh professionals who can always move back into their parents place if the supply of available properties dries up.
I’m sure you could do it, but it wouldnt be easy.
I’m a petrolhead, I like to “tinker” which to me means fitting parts that are designed to fit, tidying up some brackets and fittings. Maybe polishing or painting some stuff.
I used to enjoy swapping engines, grinding off parts, welding new ones in place and fitting shit that was never intended to go on that car.
