To be fair, this sound like a Muslim decrying that ISIS doesn’t consist of “actual” Muslims. If they themselves identify as Muslims, or communists in this case, that’s what counts for me. You can’t wipe your driveway clean of that stain just by saying “meh, they’re not really communist”.
Given their outings, I don’t think you can expect them ye respect other instances’ rules. That will give mods a very hard time, which makes effective hosting of lemmy.world an issue. That’s not a good thing.

I don’t think this is about communists not being welcome on lemmy.world. I think this is about violence not being condoned on lemmy.world. Censorship is one thing, keeping a safe environment for others is quite another. Certain situations, if predictable, are best stopped before they become a reality.

Honestly, to me, Connect feels much like Sync for Reddit did. Itvs to be expected that devs are going to learn from eachother in the process of developing for Lemmy, especially given the “youthfulness” of the platform.

But agreed. I cannot see this trumping my replacement costs during my lifetime. It’s cool, and it might be more environment-friendly, but cost/benefit calculation says no.
