Technology@lemmy.ml•China leads research in 90% of crucial technologies — a dramatic shift this century
4·8 days agoWhile we’re busy arguing which toilet a fellow human can use, China is investing so much in new technologies.
We’ve fallen pretty deep, and who we elect is to blame.

I wish I could be excited for this, but there are still many things missing or buggy in Wayland.
That’s the thing, I’m really not against Wayland. It 100% is smoother than X11, feels more premium in a way. And code-wise, it’s far easier to maintain.
But so many missing features make it tough to leave x11 behind. Even if just to switch to it once a week when needed.
Among other things, yeah. I know it’s coming, but windows having no idea where they were last time they were launched is a major annoyance. Not to mention a few games that crash on Wayland, and not on X11

Steam@lemmy.ml•72% of devs believe Steam has a monopoly on PC games, according to study
81·3 months agoI’d say it’s more of a ‘de facto’ monopoly, as every other storefront sucks so bad.
It’s ironic that Valve doesn’t have shareholders forcing horrible decisions that make people hate a platform to maximize short term profits, yet they reap in crazy amounts of money per year in comparison to public companies with dogshit monetization. Funny how that goes huh?
Have some RNG in your garbage AI, as a treat.
They always accuse the user of being the problem when using glorified if-else machines.
