It just doesn’t seem to offer much. It looks like a very simplistic mobile type game with a few basic functions on a tiny map and that’s pretty much it. It’s cute but I doubt I’d pay much more than 5 bucks for it. 25 bucks is where I can get proper games on a sale, or good indie games with lots of content.

And just like the fucking floating tabs they have excessively fat padding / gaps. And if you have this replacing the tabs at the top, then you might as well move the window buttons down one row and remove the top bar entirely.

If users have to agree to every bullshit license terms then I’m sure companies can do so too when it comes to some open source license that would give them legal liabilities over those who breach those terms. This is not unfeasible at all, just has to be done on a legislative level that would enforces it. The EU has done quite a few regulations for the consumer so I don’t think it is out of question. But I do think it is unlikely because video games are like an enigma to most politicians and still kinda stigmatized within older generations especially.

I think a compromise could be that developers would have to open source their games if they drop support, like entire support not just maintenance mode, so that the community can maintain them from then on. They could still have some sort of licensing to ensure the code isn’t used for something else or the product used for profit (this would not include something like maintenance cost for online titles so that community ran servers could be paid for).

I wonder how much more proof people need to understand that Pdx is basically on the same level as EA now.

No one is pushing toxic positivity. Positivity becomes toxic when it’s based on suppressing feelings. Instead of accepting and working through negative or challenging emotions, toxically positive behavior simply pushes them away. I’m not advocating for the latter, indeed you will see from my response I was simply providing additional positive content.

Yet here you are, basically trying to shut me up and go as far as accusing me of mental health issues and doomscrolling. You know what causes change? Anger. You even see it with all the far right movements gaining massively all over the West. People need to be angry at all those things that are actually wrong, people need to demand change. Yet, most people can’t even bother to vote for climate relevant parties or candidates, because they rather live their comfortable lives instead of being potentially affected by actual climate policies that would be necessary.

There’s not enough evidence for that statement imo. We see a drop in emissions here because we see a drop in emissions in general. This is however not strictly scalable and might bottom out at a certain point, at which point GDP growth will again cause emissions to rise.

That and the fact that I’m guessing they hand picked the results too instead of using just the first response given. Ultimately LLMs aren’t AI, it’s not forming its own thoughts, it’s generating text based on input that was produced by humans. So saying they rated “AI” responses better than humans is already disingenuous.

I doubt it is coming anytime soon. Especially since the updated version just came out.
