“Whatever happened with the ozone layer panic, if scientists are so smart?”
We listened to the scientists, and the problem went away.

Honestly, more people should be.
I like how this implies that Groundskeeper Willie uses Linux.

Thanks, Martin, you fucking greedy imbecile.
Not even political - just everyone, you know? I’ve met a liberal (true liberal, not American liberal) forklift operator that sped through the warehouse all day until they ran someone over. I’ve met a conservative site manager who walked around without a hard hat all the time, I came to find out after I left that they died when a piece of our stock fell on their head. I’ve met a guy who described himself as “apolitical” who kept his gun unsecured in case he needed it - didn’t check his target and ended up shooting his wife.
Human fucking stupidity is the problem, not what politics they have. If American-style conservatives were able to make absolutely certain that human stupidity would not end up getting people killed, I would vote them every day of the week. Same with America’s center-right party, same with the most extreme of the left in the most left-wing country in the world.
I’m just fucking tired of seeing people die because they refuse to use their brains. I’m tired of people letting their ego or their politics or their greed get in the way of survival, let alone progress.
Just once, I’d like there to be safety laws that people follow before they’re written in blood.
I mean, the infrastructure has been actively falling apart for years, people can’t afford the fuel to get to work, half of the country is actively trying to sabotage the rest of it…
My money’s on 2050, at the latest.

I’ve been diagnosed with ADHD since I was fourteen. I am now thirty. I’ve done my research to manage my condition and have come across this; and even more, I have experienced this very thing. It is not the whole picture, certainly, and as ADHD is a spectrum, it will not be present in all of us; but it is not an uncommon symptom; and it’s basically what I could pull from the post without making assumptions about anon’s other characteristics.
That sounds like it should run afoul of many privacy laws around the world. Can someone more educated in this matter than I confirm that?
Could be ADHD. The idea of a new relationship and the dopamine from the chase and the victory would be relatively short-lived, and their brain would naturally start seeking out its next hit.
So, is it literally just repeatedly creating the necessary conditions and hoping the stuff will react the right way? Or is it a strict process that needs to be done just so or it’ll ruin the whole thing? Or both?
Honestly, the rabid part of the fuck cars crowd are letting perfect become the enemy of good enough for now. The sort of thing they want could never stand a chance of happening. Not anytime soon, not under this breed of capitalism where corporations have a say in the government.
EVs are good enough to slow down emissions to the point where maybe our descendants will have enough time to shift public opinion and get rid of cars entirely. Until then, cars are going to stick around, best thing to do is compromise for now, and use the time bought to have a chance of getting everything you want later.
Man, 1993 was my year.
I was born in ‘94.
… if I cast Booming Blade, am I locked out of Extra Attack because I took a “Cast a Spell” action instead of an “Attack” action?
Yes. Extra Attack specifies that you must take the Attack action. With Booming Blade, you’re still taking the Cast a Spell action, the singular melee weapon attack is simply how the spell is cast, not an entire Attack action.
This is the same for all spells that require you to make a weapon attack as part of casting it. The only spells that kind of break this rule are the various “Smite” spells, but they’re worded like “When you next hit a creature with a melee weapon attack…”, and generally use a bonus action rather than an action, so you can still use your action for the Attack action.
One of the more comprehensive answers I’ve seen that accurately explains why real investigations take so long.
So, a bit more than an annoyance, but not quite instant Thanksgiving dinner. Good to know.
Ah, the infinite power of coffee and deadlines.
